Cerrowire supports Hartselle police

Special to the Enquirer

Cerrowire is showing its support for local law enforcement officers.

“Hartselle’s finest excel at keeping our community safe, and we’re proud to support our local police,” Cerrowire posted to its Facebook page. “To honor them, Cerrowire will be flying the Thin Blue Line flag this month. Thank you to Chief Justin Barley and the Hartselle Police Department for your quick action and selfless duty serving others.”

In a press release, Cerrowire president Stewart Smallwood praised Barley and the HPD officers. “Safety is important to Cerrowire, and we’re fortunate to have dedicated officers preserving the safety of citizens and businesses. We are happy to honor you for your work,” he said.

“Law enforcement is often a thankless job but not in Hartselle,” said Barley. “We are fortunate to have great support from our community. We appreciate everyone from Cerrowire taking the time to thank our officers in such a special way. It makes a difference, and we really appreciate it.”

HPD recently made an arrest after nearly $20,000 worth of copper was stolen from Cerrowire in November. Dec. 3, Hartselle Police Sgt. Chip Reynolds arrested Joshua Keith Tripp, 35, of Pisgah for theft of property, first degree.

Tripp attempted to elude officers, according to the HPD, and wrecked his vehicle on Interstate 65 headed toward Falkville. Officers later determined Tripp was on probation from two jurisdictions.
