Hartselle Enquirer’s All-Area Football Team

Player of the Year: Christian Angulo, Falkville, 5’11, 200, SR: Angulo closed out his career as a four-time All-State selection. He finished 2020 with 1,287 yards rushing, 176 yards receiving, and 23 offensive touchdowns. On defense, he intercepted seven passes, forced two fumbles, had a fumble recovery, and blocked a punt. He was a Class 2A first-team All-State selection at defensive back.

His four selections have come at three different positions. In 2017 & 2018 he was selected as a wide receiver. In 2019 he was selected as a running back. In 2020 he was selected as a defensive back.

Coach of the Year: Bryan Moore, Hartselle. In his first year as Hartselle head coach, Moore led the Tigers to a 7-4 record and a trip to the AHSAA 6A State Playoffs. He took over a team that finished 4-7 last season and graduated more than 20 seniors. After starting the season 1-2, Hartselle closed out the season winning six of their final seven regular-season games.

OFFENSE

QB: Parker Sawyer, Hartselle, 6’2, 200, SR:

RB: Jerry Burton, Priceville, 5’11, 191, SR: Ran for 1,256 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns. He was a Class 4A All-State honorable mention selection this year.

RB: Cameron Moore, Danville, 6’0, 200, SR: Ran for 941 yards and seven touchdowns.

WR: Izayah Fletcher, Hartselle, 6’2, 170, SO: Had  51 receptions for 865 and seven touchdowns.

WR: Trent Wright, Hartselle, 6’2, 190, SR: Had 24 receptions for 434 yards and one touchdown. 

WR: Braden Rusk, Brewer, 5’11, 170, SR: Had 33 receptions for 292 yards.

OL: Tyler Cappi, Priceville, 6’2, 300, JR: Recorded 63 pancake blocks and graded out at 95 percent in nine games played. He was a Class 4A first-team All-State selection.

OL: Jackson Blackwell, Falkville, 6’6, 335, JR: Recorded 78 pancake blocks and graded out at 91 percent. He was a Class 2A first-team All-State selection.

OL: Ryan Garrison, Hartselle, 6’1, 300, SR: Two-year starter

OL: Gabe Dailey, Falkville, 6’3, 220, SR: Recorded 35 pancake blocks and graded out at 89 percent.

OL: Lane Flowers, Danville, 6’0, 250, SR Two-year starter

PK: Crawford Lang, Hartselle, 5’10, 170, SO: Hit 8 of 11 field goals with a long of  51 and was 44 of 44 on extra points. Had 32 touchbacks on kickoffs.

ATH: Mikel Philyaw, Falkville, 5’10, 175, SR: Had 21 receptions for 237 yards and three touchdowns. Also had 90 yards rushing, 508 return yards with a 23 yards average per return. On defense, he had 64 tackles with 11 tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception.

ATH: Ri Fletcher, Hartselle, 5’8, 160, FR: Had 401 yards rushing with four touchdowns and had  21 receptions for 223 yards and two touchdowns.

ATH: Mookie Moore, Hartselle, 6’0, 215, JR: Had 458 yards rushing with 13 touchdowns. Had 49 tackles and 1.5 sacks on defense in five games.

ATH: Xander Gaines, Priceville, 6’0, 165, SO: Had 711 yards rushing with nine total touchdowns. Finished with 61 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery on defense.

DEFENSE

DL: Kelvin Morris, Hartselle, 6’2, 250, SR: Had 99 tackles with 15 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. He was a Class 6A second-team All-State selection and has signed with UT-Chattanooga.

DL: EJ Colbert, Hartselle, 6’3, 260, SR: Had 44 tackles with six tackles for loss and four sacks.

DL: Lorenzo Ochoa, Falkville, 6’0, 230, SO: Had 46 tackles with eight tackles for loss, two sacks, and one fumble recovery.

LB: Issac Osteen, Hartselle, 5’10, 175, JR: Had 146 tackles with six tackles for loss.

LB: Jake Langlois, Priceville, 5’11, 180, SO: Had 111 tackles with nine tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

LB: JC Estes, Priceville, 5’7, 173, SR: Had 101 tackles with nine tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries.

LB: Luke Fitzgerald, Falkville, 5’8, 180, SR: Had 64 tackles with 12 tackles for loss, three sacks, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

DB: Jakalb Goodwin, Hartselle, 5’7, 150, FR: Had 88 tackles with two tackles for loss, a sack,  two interceptions and seven passes broken up.

DB: Austin Holmes, Falkville, 5’10, 170, SR: Had 85 tackles with 15 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and a defensive touchdown.

DB: William Baker, Priceville, 5’11, 160, JR: Had 80 tackles with five interceptions.

DB: Caden Burnett, Falkville, 6’2, 175, SO: Had 24 tackles with three tackles for loss, four interceptions, eight passes broken up, and one forced fumble.

P: Andrew Jones, Falkville, 6’0, 185, JR: Averaged 37 yards per punt with eight downed inside the 20 yard line.
