Girls Basketball Notebook: Brewer picks up 41-27 victory over Danville

Hope West finished with a game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead Brewer to a 41-27 victory over Danville Friday night.

The Patriots, who trailed 8-4 after the first quarter, outscored the Hawks 13-0 in the second to take a 17-8 lead at the half.

Bronwyn Borden added 12 points for Brewer.

Blayne Godfrey led the Hawks with 12 points, while Alyssa Brooks added 10 points.

Brewer (1-1) travels to West Point on Monday night ad Danville (0-2) will host Hatton.

Falkville 61, Whitesburg Christian 26: After racing out to a 37-15 halftime lead, Falkville held Whitesburg Christian to just eight points in the second half to pull away for the 35-point victory.

Sydnee Fitzgerald finished with a game-high 17 points to lead Falkville. Makenzie Veal added 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Ellie Cate Hill had seven points and five steals.

Whitesburg Christian was led by Annalyse McGee with seven points and Amelia Blackstone, who added six.
