Hartselle Council closes out 2016-2020 term

Outgoing Hartselle Councilman Matthew Broom repeated goodbyes to fellow council members – and they, in turn, offered thanks and best wishes – as he attended his final meeting in the 2016-2020 term. 

Broom stepped down without seeking reelection after serving four years on the council. 

The council also recognized the quarterly Safety Award Winners during its recent meeting: Tommy Wimberly, City Hall; Jacob Holladay, Hartselle Fire and Rescue; Thomas PhillipsParks and Recreation; Robert Baker, Hartselle Police Department; and Colton GibsonPublic Works 

The council also: 

adopted Ordinance 1530 after holding a public hearing. The ordinance clarifies recent changes to the sign ordinance for the Central Business District. 

approved a fire hydrant maintenance contract renewal with Hartselle Utilities. 

–approved a request from Murphy Oil USA for an alcohol license. 

–approved a request from Public Works to declare a 2006 Bobcat Mini Excavator as surplus property. 

–approved a budget adjustment request for $1,053.97 from the fire department for the fire hydrant maintenance line item. 

–approved the re-appointment of Cindy Roberts to the library board.
