Are you prepared for storms of life?

By Todd Barrier

It has been an active hurricane season. We’ve had some direct hits here in the U.S., as well as some near misses.

The meteorologists do their best to predict the size, severity and landfall location of these storms to help people in those areas prepare for the storm and the aftermath.

As Christians, we face the same thing spiritually.

We know the storms of life will come. How do we know this? Well, because the Bible tells us so.

In John 16:33, Jesus says, “In the world you will have tribulation. So, we know those tough times will come, just by the nature of us being human. Then the question becomes, are we prepared for the storm and the aftermath?

To be prepared for the storms, we must build a strong faith before the hurricanes of life hit so we can focus on recovery in the aftermath. If we have prepared by growing our faith in Jesus, we will have a much easier time in the aftermath.

Let’s look at the whole verse from earlier, John 16:33. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.”

As we prepare for the inevitable storms, we know Jesus has overcome this world, so we can look forward to doing the same thing one day, eternally. Therefore, when the storms come, we can look to Him and our eternal future for comfort.

Are you prepared for the storms of life?
