District 9 State Rep. Scott Stadthagen has been appointed to the state health committee.  

Appointed by the Speaker of the House Mac McCutcheon, Stadthagen – who also serves on the local legislation and state government committees – said he is particularly excited about his most recent appointment, especially in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. 

Stadthagen is one of 14 members of the committee, which he said sees every piece of legislation pertaining to Alabama’s healthcare systems.  

“It’s just a really good committee to be on for the people of District 9,” Stadthagen said. “Anything in the health field within our state goes through that committee. Any legislation that has anything to do health in Alabama goes through it. 

“For District 9 to have a voice on the health committee, I’m proud of that,” he added. “I’m proud that the Speaker placed his confidence in me to appoint me, and I’m very excited to get to work and represent District 9.”  

Stadthagen was elected in 2018, and he said he is still proud the people of District 9 believed in his message.  

“I’m very grateful people instilled their trust in me to represent them, and it’s a daily reminder of that faith,” he said. “Every day I drive to Montgomery, I remind myself why I’m here, why I wanted to be here, and I ask, ‘Are you making a difference for District 9? Have you made an impact?’  

“I think I put a little more pressure on myself than most because I want to make sure that, at the end of the day, I did all that I could for District 9.”  

Stadthagen said some of his proudest moments as a representative in Montgomery have been when he was able to act as a voice and work as an advocate for city and county leaders and his constituents.  

“It’s a great feeling to be helpful to people in District 9 and be their voice,” Stadthagen said. “That’s the whole reason I wanted to do it.”
