Morgan deputies save life of overdose victim

Special to the Enquirer

In the early morning hours of Aug. 27, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible heroin overdose at a residence on Newton Road in the Somerville area.

According to the MCSO, Sgt. Chris Dillard and Deputy Camron Williams were the first to arrive at the scene, and they quickly located an unconscious female who was not breathing.

Dillard administered naloxone nasal spray to counteract the overdose and began performing CPR on the woman.

The deputies were able to revive her, and she was then treated by EMS teams and transported by ambulance to the hospital.

“I’m proud of the lifesaving measures taken by our deputies. This individual has been given another opportunity at life,” said Sheriff Ron Puckett. “We pray she can make the best of it. Whenever possible, we continue to stress the risks of illegal narcotics, especially heroin.”
