Hartselle City Schools confirm 14 positive cases of COVID-19

Two weeks into the school year, 14 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Hartselle City Schools with 242 students, staff and faculty being quarantined at home.  

Out of the total HCS population of 3978, 14 (or .3 percent) have tested positive for COVID-19 after two weeks of school,” the school system said on its website. “In alignment with the directives of the Alabama Department of Public Health, 242 (or 6.0 percent) of students and/or staff who had close contact with those infected have been placed under quarantine for 14 days.”  

Of the positive cases, three are at Barkley Bridge Elementary, two are at Hartselle Intermediate, three are at Hartselle Junior High School and six are at Hartselle High School.  

Out of those quarantined, 135 are from HHS, 19 are from HJHS, 52 are from HIS, 22 are from Barkley Bridge, seven are from Crestline and seven are from F.E. Burleson.

Hartselle City Schools employs 427 administrators, teachers and staff and serves 3,551 students.
