Spiritual quarantine

Sports have been among the biggest things affected by COVID-19. All sports were halted for several months, and some are just now beginning to make their way back.

Crowds are smaller or non-existent at the events, and now the college football season is in peril.

If sports do come back, it will be under very strict circumstances.

One example is the NBA. The teams are in what’s called “the bubble,” preparing for the resumption of the season. They are all quarantined in a sports/hotel complex in Disney World to insulate them from exposure to the virus.

This made me think: Wouldn’t it be great to have that as a Christian? To be able to “quarantine” ourselves from the unrighteousness of this world, where we could be in a spiritual bubble?

Spiritually we can create this for ourselves through studying and adhering to His Word! The results would be a much stronger spiritual life.

In fact, the Bible tells us we should create our own little spiritual bubbles

Look at Proverbs 4:23-27: “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you. Let your eyes look straight ahead and your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil.”

Have you created a spiritual quarantine to guard your heart from the pandemic of sin?
