Morgan County student tests positive for COVID-19
A student-athlete in Morgan County has tested positive for COVID-19, according to Morgan County Schools communications specialist Lisa Screws.
The announcement was made over the weekend. The West Morgan High School student was tested for the virus June 25 after attending workouts the day prior.
“This group of athletes was screened prior to the workout and followed social distancing and facial covering guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the Alabama High School Athletics Association,” Screws said. “Members of this group of athletes have been notified of the positive test results, and the affected student will remain in quarantine for at least 14 days.”
School administrators are awaiting direction from the Alabama Department of Public Health and the state board of education on when the facilities can reopen.
