Falkville man faces domestic violence, drug charges

Special to the Enquirer

Morgan County Sheriff deputies May 14 responded to a domestic violence situation involving shots fired, located in the 200 block of Bell Springs Road in the Falkville area.

Upon arrival, deputies identified Joseph Lynn Harris, 32, of Falkville, as a suspect. Deputies quickly established a perimeter around the residence after learning Joseph Lynn Harris was still inside with a 2-month-old child. Deputies then established a line of communication with Harris and were able to convince him to exit the residence.

During the course of the investigation, deputies reportedly located a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Agents with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit responded to the scene and obtained and executed a search warrant for the residence. Agents recovered three pistols, a quantity of a crystalline substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, several morphine pills with a combined weight more than two grams and drug paraphernalia.

Harris was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute (morphine), unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol, and domestic violence–menacing.

He was transported to the Morgan County Jail and booked with an $8,800 bond.
