Deborah Norman White
Danville
Funeral service for Deborah Norman White, 65, was March 4 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Josh Sparkman and Bro. Jessie Banks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Ballinger Cemetery. 

Mrs. White died March 1 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1954, in Morgan County to Cecil Oscar Norman and Lucy Henderson Norman. She was employed by Compass Bank as an administrative representative prior to her passing.  

Preceding her in death were her daughter, Tracey Michelle Sharp; her parents; her sisterBonnie Dunaway and husband Gilbert; and sister Carolyn McNutt. 

Survivors include her husbandBobby Whiteher sisterAndrea Norman Cantrell (Steve)brother-in-lawRay McNuttand several nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers were Ray McNutt, Jerry Shadden, John Owens, Freddie Stephenson, Jake Welborn and Phillip Gurley. 

 

Jean Stricklin Screws
Hartselle
Funeral service for Jean Stricklin Screws, 91, was March 6 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Keenum officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery in Cullman.
Mrs. Screws died March 2 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Cullman County to Henry Stricklin and Estelle (Davis) Stricklin. She was a graduate of Cullman High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Bernard College. She earned her masters degree was from the University of North Alabama.  

She was employed as a teacher for the Hartselle City Schools system, working at the Hartselle Junior High, for many years prior to her retirement and was a member of the East Highland Baptist Church. She was involved in many organizations throughout the years, such as Morgan County Educators Association, Alabama Education Association, National Education Association, Phi Kappa Phi and the American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Truman Screws, and her parents and siblings, Irving, Dillard, Martin, Sue and Trilby. 

Survivors include one daughterVicki Jeffrey(Roger)one sonGreg Screws; two grandchildrenCourtney White Greene (Jacob) and Emily Screws Roberts (Tyler); great-grandchildrenRhett Roberts, Graham Roberts, Will Greene and Charley Greeneand blended family Mike and Lendy Jeffreys Hancock (Chase, Brandi, Kennedi, Cohen, Abbie and Matt) and Lonnie and Leslie Jeffreys Dawson (Alex and Makenzie). 

Palmer Lawrence Kube Jr.
Hartselle
Palmer Lawrence Kube Jr. died March 2 at his residence. He was born June 3, 1958, in Millington, Tenn., to Palmer Lawrence Kube Sr. and Daisy Frances Ferguson Kube. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of the Local Union for Pipefitters.  

He was preceded in death his parents and a brother, William Travis Kube.
Survivors include his wifeCindy Kube; one sonCody Palmer Kube; one daughterCheyanne Kube Collier (Josh); two brothersRichard E. Kube (Terri) and Larry Kube; one sisterSandy Cheatham (Steve); and grandchildren Savannah Kube, Keilan Collier, Zaylen Collier, Waylon Collier and Oaklin Collier.
memorial graveside service was held March 8 at Hartselle Memory Gardens with Bro. Greg Compton officiating. Peck Funeral Home assisted the family. 

 

Esther Jane Bennett 

Huntsville 

Esther Jane Bennett, 69, of Huntsville passed away unexpectedly in her sleep March 1.  

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Esther Jane Bennett and Jimmie Stewart Bennett of Hartselle, Jenny Bennett Berry (Larry) of Decatur and brother Jim David Bennett of Hartselle. 

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Anne Brennan (Asia Hester)granddaughter Jane Katherine Brennan of Huntsville; sister Judy Bennett Odom (Tommy); brother John Davidson Bennett of Hartselle; aunt Judith Moyers (Bill) of New York City; aunt Sarah Debter of Sheffield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Esther Jane Bennett was born March 20, 1950, in Hartselle. She graduated from Hartselle High School in 1968 and Jacksonville State University in 1972. She taught home economics at Butler High School and then at Huntsville Center for Technology. Jane later worked for Humana Inc. as a contract negotiator. 

Jane was a devout Christian and loving mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was a caring, loving person to all she met.  

Jane had a strong spirit and was a woman of grace and kindness who persevered courageously and bravely as she fought a daily battle with debilitating arthritis. She was an artist, decorator, seamstress, avid reader and loved arranging flowers.  

But most of all, she was a teacher and mentor to everyone. 

Service was at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Huntsville March 9 in Ridley Hall at 11 a.m. There was a small reception following the service.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Church of the Nativity.  

 

Teresa Foster
Huntsville
Funeral service for Teresa Foster, 57, was March 8 at 2 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church with Sharon Rose Walker officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Her body was laid in state for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was in New Salem Cemetery. 
Miss Foster died March 5 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Jan. 10, 1963, in Marshall County to Marcus Harold Foster and Dorothy Fay Briscoe Foster, who preceded her in death. She was employed at Huntsville Surgery Center as a medical coder, prior to her passing. She was a member of the Huntsville House of Prayer. She enjoyed Alabama football and loved her dogs.
Survivors include one sonStephen Foster, Arab; two brothersDavid Foster, Huntsville, and Benny Foster, Huntsville; three sistersSusan Foster, Union Grove, Angel McDearmond (Terry), Ryan, and Melissa Miller (Rusty), Decatur.
She considered her nieces and nephews as her grandchildren: five niecesBrandy Bray (Tony), Kerra Heredia, Destyni Cravens, Amber Hyde and Sissy Lewis (John) and six nephewsBrandon Miller (Bridgett), Jason Foster, Adam Foster (Desirea), David Foster, Jason Lee Foster and Gavin Cravens. Survivors also include 12 great-nieces and nephews. 

 

Laura Jean Lowery Sterling
Danville
Funeral service for Laura Jean Lowery Sterling, 91, was March 9 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Pierce officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. 
Mrs. Sterling died March 6 at her residence. She was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Lawrence County to James Wiley Lowery and Ora Ellen Ratliff Lowery. She was employed by Hartselle Hospital prior to her retirement. She was a member of D.A.R. and the Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild. She also was a member of the Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Leldon Edward Sterling; her parents; three brothers, Howard, Maurice and Ratliff Lowery; a sister, Nell Harrison; and a great-grandson, Austin Hagood.
Survivors include one sonLarry Sterling (Vicky), Moulton; four daughtersDelora Pierce (John), Joppa, Phyllis Stafford (Willie), Blountsville, Ellen Hughes (Clinton), Somerville, and Karen Jan Earls (Darrel), Danville; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Michael Pierce, Dan Schrimpsher, Morgan Crossley, Gavin Crossley, Brent Sterling and Jonathan Hagood. 

 

Laverne Garrison
Hartselle
Funeral service for Laverne Garrison, 77, was March 7 at p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Williams and Bro. Tim Kinney officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in New Center Cemetery. 
Mrs. Garrison died March 5 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born May 5, 1942, in MorgaCounty to Johnny Washington Nelson and Gracie Coleen Vines Nelson Reeves. She was employed as a housekeeper prior to her passing.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Milton Garrison; her son, Chucky Leeman Garrison; her parents; and two sisters, Loyce Barber McCaig and Joyce Barber.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Bates (Michael) and Leisa Cook (Barry); three brothersJohnny Wayne NelsonDavid Marcus Nelson and William “Billy” James; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family members. 

 

Elree Campbell Brown

Funeral service for Elree Campbell Brown, 83, was March 8 at 2 p.m. at Valhermoso Holiness Church with Bro. Tim Patrick and Bro. Gerald Case officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Valhermoso Holiness Cemetery. 
Mrs. Brown died March 5 at her residence. She was born March 21, 1936, in Clay County to Houston Corbitt Campbell and Mary Izetta Mullally Campbell. She was a homemaker for her family and was a member of the Valhermoso Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Melvin E. Brown; a brotherW.C. Campbell; and two sisters, Gladys Freeman and Mary Frances Steadman.
Survivors include a sonKeith Campbell (Sandra); three daughtersMelissa Brown Patrick (Tim)Teresa Brown and Karen Mayer (Harley); one brotherCoy Campbell; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Christopher Mayer, Eli Wales, Keith Campbell, Harley Mayer, Rusty Wilkerson and Devoy Brown.
Honorary pallbearers were Dillon Campbell and Liam Patrick. 

Gregory Gibson
Hartselle
Funeral service for Gregory Gibson, 60, was March 10 at p.m. at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Malcolm Carter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. 

Mr. Gibson died March 7 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Jan. 30, 1960, in Coffee County to Jack Gibson and Peggy Rogers. He was employed as a transportation manager for the state of Alabama prior to his passing.  

His father preceded him in death.
Survivors include wife Lynn Gibson, Hartselle; one daughterKacie Smith (Brandon), Cullman; two sonsTodd Gibson, Madison, and Ryan Gibson (Deanna), Gallatin, Tenn.; three grandchildrenOlivia, Maddox and Charlotte; two brothersGary Gibson, Enterprise, and Kenny Gibson, New Brockton; and one sisterJackie Smith (Phil), New Brockton. 

 

Sybil Diane Bradford
Athens
Ms. Bradford died March 6 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born Feb. 2, 1959, in Leflore County, Mississippi, to David Dean Brice and Betty Jo Notes Brice. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.  

She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a sonGill Brice (Patsy); a brotherDavid Dean Brice Jr (Karen)and grandchild Ashley Brice.
