Shelia Kay Chaney Watwood, 62, of Hartselle passed away Feb 21. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Feb. 24 in the chapel of Peck Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Henderson officiating. She was born Oct. 7, 1957, in Morgan County to Loyd Fred Chaney and Inez Mollie Waddell Chaney, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her former husband, Billy Ray Watwood, and brothers Bobby Chaney and  

Charles Chaney. 

Mary Evelyn Howard
Hartselle 

Graveside service for Mary Evelyn Howard, 99, of Hartselle, was Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at Burningtree Memorial Gardens with Bro. Tim Rice of Encompass Hospice officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Mrs. Howard died Feb. 22 at The Terrace in Priceville. She was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Franklin County to Ernest James and Mary Wilson Jones James. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Howard was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ.  

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Eddie F. Howard; and two sons, Jimmie A. Howard and Ronald K. Howard. Survivors include one son, Jeff L. Howard (Holly), Hartselle; one daughter, Myra Howard Garrett (Craig) Hartselle; two sisters, Dot Murray of Georgia and Verlon “Boots” Casey of Decatur; two daughters-in-law, Nancy Howard and Kathy Howard; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.  

Pallbearers were her grandsons.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association. 

Bro. Raymond Stinson

Funeral service for Brother Raymond Stinson, 76, of Eva was held Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. at Eva Baptist Church (Gravel Ridge) with Bro. Gary Driver and Bro. Zack Scott officiating. Burial was in the Oden Ridge Cemetery, with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Bro. Raymond, who was born May 4, 1943, in Morgan County to Lewis and Lois Allison Stinson, went to be with the Lord Feb. 22 at his home. He was a member of the Eva Baptist Church and had pastored churches for over 45 years, serving the congregations of Oden Ridge Baptist Church, Lawrence Cove Baptist Church, East Flint Baptist Church and Eva Baptist Church. He was also a very good certified general motors mechanic and was gifted a talent for fixing vehicles.  

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lois Stinson; a son, Dale Stinson (Malia); a daughter, Gina Vest (Mike); a sister, Lavean Wilson; five grandchildren, Shane Alexander, Jacob Stinson, Cody Stinson, Todd Vest and Samantha Tallichet; and a great-grandson, Jameson Vest.  

John Stinson, Wayne Stinson, Kevin Stinson, Randall Stinson, Terry Wilson, Jeff Frost and George Frost served as pallbearers. 

Bobby Franklin Chaney

Funeral service for Bobby Franklin Chaney, 67, was held Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Clint Coffey and the Rev. Paul J. Allen IV officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Valhermoso Springs Cemetery. 
Mr. Chaney died Feb. 25 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Aug. 22, 1952, in Morgan County to Loyd Chaney and Mollie Inez Waddell Chaney.  

You can never imagine the man our daddy was unless you had the opportunity to meet him. He was a patient, kind, encouraging, understanding, strong, tough, loving, accepting, forgiving man of God. We could paint a picture of the perfect dad, and it would be him.  

He was employed as a scheduler and planner for Ascend Performance Materials prior to his retirement in 2018.  

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Larry Chaney and sister Sheila Chaney.  

Survivors include his wife, Delilah Bradley Chaney; two daughters, Amy Chaffee (Jon) and Leslie Britnell (Allan); one brother Charlie Chaney; and five grandchildren. 
Pallbearers were Logan Tilley, Rusher Clemons, Kris Bramlett, Thomas Gipner, Jake Lawrence, Isaac Phillips and Brad Smith.  

Charles Alan Stidham

A memorial service for Charles Alan Stidham, 65, was held Feb. 29 at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Cobb officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 
Mr. Stidham died Feb. 19 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born April 1, 1954, in Autauga County to Charles B. Stidham and Annie Ruth Watts Stidham. He was a United States Air Force veteran and was
employed as a registered nurse at Huntsville Hospital prior to his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Amphika “Om” Stidham; two sons, Charles Anthony Stidham and
Caleb Justin Stidham; one brother, Danny Stidham; and two sisters, Diane Cobb (Wayne) and
Brenda Johnson (Jimmy.)  

Beverly Gaither

Beverly Gaither passed away Feb. 25 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 13, 1938, in Nebraska to William and Ida King, who preceded her in death. Survivors include her nieces, Bonnie Robertson (Mason) and JoAnne Gerkin, and nephew James Gaither.  

No services are scheduled at this time. 

Joshua Glenn Wells

Funeral service for Joshua Glenn Wells, 31, was Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Evers officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Wells died Feb. 25 at his residence. He was born Aug. 23, 1988, in Madison County to Marion Cecil Wells and Judy Ann Weeks Wells. He was employed by Mark’s Plumbing as a master plumber prior to his passing. He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Cecil Wells.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Ann Willis Wells; his mother, Judy Ann Weeks Wells; two stepsons, Daniel Bradford Robinson and John Douglas Long; three brothers, Marion Cecil Wells Jr. (Margo), Jamie L. Wells and Jason Lynn Wells; one sister, April Wells Craig (Steven); niece Fallin Marrow; and nephew Riley Hubbard.  

Pallbearers were J.R. Chapman, Nate Steele, Alan Siegel, Roy Weeks Jr., Eric Smith and Brandon Weeks. 

Tony Carl Melson

Funeral service for Tony Carl Melson, 52, was held March 1 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Carroll officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Melson died Feb. 26 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Nov. 22, 1967, in Morgan County to Gene Dillard Melson and Ossie Geneva Fowler Melson.  

Preceding him in death were his father and a brother, David Melson.  

Tony was an avid Alabama fan. He enjoyed, more than anything, watching his kids do what they love. He loved his mother fiercely. Recently, Tony accepted Jesus Christ into his heart. He worked at Russell Forest Products for 22 years and throughout the years helped coach several of his kids’ ball teams. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Anyone who knew Tony knew his passions.  

Survivors include one son, Austin Tyler Melson; two daughters, Brooklyn Taylor Melson and Jamie Nicole Melson; mother Geneva Fowler; two brothers, Gene Russell and Vince Melson; two sisters, Christie Melson (Dale Borden) and Brittany Melson Smith (John); and ex-wife Kristi Melson.  

Pallbearers were John Smith, Dale Borden, Jerry Peppers, Tim Bolan, Josh Owens and Johnny White.
