Pastor J. Wayne Penn
Falkville
Jessie Wayne “J. Wayne” Penn, 85, passed away peacefully at his home Jan. 13.  

His Celebration of Life service was Jan. 16 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Hartselle. The body was laid in state one hour prior to the service. The officiants were Phil Waldrep, Marty Hand, Ed Hayes and David Lowery. Interment was at Hartselle City Cemetery.  

Brother” Penn dedicated his life in faithful ministry as a Southern Baptist pastor for 65 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Marvin Penn and Gracie Nell Rogers Penn; two sons, Phillip Wayne Penn and Michael Dale Penn; and his siblings, Williard, Ronnie and William (Billy) Penn.  

He is survived by his faithful wife of 65 years, Gloria Ann Johnson Penn; two daughters, Floresa “Flo” Penn (Jeff) Beseth of Raymore, Missouri, and Joy Penn (Marty) Hand of Hartselle; eight granddaughters; five greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wayne and Gloria attended Danville High School and married after graduation.
Wayne was called into the ministry soon after they married. He attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, and New Orleans Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana. He served churches in South Carolina and Louisiana while in school and pastorates in Alabama at Enon Baptist Church in Lawrence County, Underwood Baptist Church in Florence, Daleville Baptist Church in Daleville, Parkview Baptist Church in Decatur, Colbert Heights Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Union Grove, Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Decatur, Unity Baptist Church in Decatur, Forest Hills Baptist Church in Somerville, Liberty Baptist Church in Hartselle and most recently, Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hartselle, where he served more than 10 years.  

He officially stepped down from pastoring Dec. 30, 2018.
Brother Penn, as he was affectionately known by many, was a preacher and teacher, but he was best known for being a pastor. He genuinely loved people and served them with his whole heart in every church he pastored. Humor and his love of “fellowship” over food endeared him to many people. He mentored and encouraged many young men in ministry and leaves a legacy of dedicated service to preaching the truth of Scripture and loving people that was impossible to replicate.  

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Pallbearers were Kent Johnson, Keith Johnson, Tim Penn, Brett Speegle, Len Williamson and Jeff Beseth. Honorary pallbearers are Darrin Speegle and Chris Penn.
In lieu of flowers people may donate to Gideon’s International as a tribute to him because he loved the Bible and this organization so much.
 

Joe B. Skipworth
Decatur
Funeral service for Joe B. Skipworth, 83, was Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rusty Hodges officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in New Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Skipworth died Jan. 12 at his residence. He was born Nov. 23, 1936, in Morgan County to Joseph Clarence (J.C.) Skipworth and Mary Etta Parrish Skipworth. He was a Master of Masonry, winning a “Top
Block Award” before his retirement and was the owner of Skipworth Masonry.
He was a United States Air Force veteran. He enjoyed gardening and being outside, and he was an avid fisherman known as “The Fish King.  

He was a loving father and grandfather and loved animals, especially his beloved dog“Peanut. He was also a hardcore Alabama fan.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Ann Burns Skipworth; his parents; a brother, Buddy Skipworth; a sister, Betty Edwards; and a greatgranddaughterZailey Mae.
Survivors include three daughtersPam Skipworth Riddle, Decatur, Donna Ahlstrom (Mark), Hartselle, and Cindy Tapscott (Paul Wayne), Hartselleone brotherJerry Skipworth, Moultonone sisterPat Jones, Hartselle; seven grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joey Strickland, Joshua Riddle, Hunter Tapscott, Drew Howard, Tyler Linville and Jim Cochrane Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Marcus Turney and Connor Strickland. 

 

Randy Sherril Lott
Somerville
Randy Sherril Lott, 35, died Jan. 13 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Sept. 20, 1984, in Marshall County to Danny Sherril Lott and Betty Entrekin Lott.  

He was a packer for Wayne Poultry Farms.
No services are scheduled at this time.
Survivors include his parentsDanny and Betty Entrekin Lott, and two brothersDavid Lott and Alton Lott (April). 

 

Heath Alan Berry 

Cullman 

Celebration of Life Service for Heath Alan Berry, age 37, of Cullman, was at 2 p.m. Jan. 18 at Daystar Church in Hartselle. Family received friends after the service.  

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. 

Mr. Berry passed away Jan. 14 at Cullman Regional. He was born Jan. 1, 1983, to the late Randy Keith and Deborah Jeanette Berry. 

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Berry; children, Kash Reign Berry, Kagan Reich Berry and Karolina June Berry; pet dog, Delilah; brother, Josh Keith (Jolene) Berry; aunts, Gladys (Norman) Wisener, Susie (Walter) Busby and Karen Davis; uncles, Jessie (Diane) Crumbley, Sam (Jane) Crumbley, sonny (Ann) Berry, Haskel (Ellen) Berry, Don (Marie) Berry, Robert Berry, Will Berry and Henry Berry; and a host of cousins. 

 

Ernie Kenneth Earls
Hartselle
Funeral service for Ernie Kenneth Earls, 71, was Jan. 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Henderson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Mt. Zion
Cemetery. 
Mr. Earls died Jan. 13 at Select Specialty HospitalOrlando North, in Orlando, Florida. He was born Oct. 3, 1948, in Cullman County to Dee B. Earls and Verna Sellers Earls. He was retired from the Pepsi Cola Company after 38 years of loyal service. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, camping and spending quality time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Merlene Earls, his parents and a sonKevin Earls.
Survivors include one daughterMelinda Earls Harris (Wayne)two brothersDavid Earls (Yvonne) and
Darrel Earls (Karen)and one granddaughterPiper Harris.
Pallbearers were Noah Earls, Dustin Earls, Johnathan Hagood, Landon Hagood, Jason West and Taylor Baker. 

 

Barbara Ann McGee
Hartselle
graveside funeral service and interment for Barbara Ann McGee, 66, were Jan. 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Center Springs Cemetery with Bro. Justin McAlpin officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.   

Miss McGee died Jan. 16 at her residence. She was born Dec. 30, 1953, in Morgan County to Samuel Benford McGee and Inez Carnell McGee. She was employed by Redstone Arsenal Contractors in the
maintenance department for 30 years. She attended First Baptist Church of Hartselle and loved her cats. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include two sistersSherry M. Winchester, Trinity, and Mary McGee Letson, Decaturone nephew, Michael Letsonone nieceJulie Hosier (Jeremy)one great-nephew, Hamilton Hosier; and one great-nieceHaley Hosier. 

Judi Sisk
Hartselle
memorial service for Judi Sisk, 69, was Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Ms. Sisk passed away peacefully Jan. 18 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1950, in Texas to Joel Smith and Evelyn Mayes Smith.
She spent much of her childhood in New Mexico and Texas, moved to Wichita, Kansas, in her early 20s and settled in north Alabama in 1986. She was a long-time employee of The Boeing Company and was enjoying her retirement from United Launch Alliance.
Judi was well-known for her sense of humor, incredible generosity and strong independent spirit. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing Yahtzee and watching her shows with her friends and neighbors. She loved all things Texas, including tamales, brisket and Texas A&M football.
Judi is survived by her daughters, Jaime Sisk and Robyn Braggsonin-law Michael Bragg; and granddaughters Riley Bragg, Evie McDaniel, Ruby McDaniel and Hazel McDaniel.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothersDavy Smith and Jody Smith.

John Wesley Froberg
Hartselle
Funeral service for John Wesley Froberg, 55, will be Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. at New Center Baptist Church with Bro. Ben Bates officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Lawrence Cove Cemetery
at Eva. 
Mr. Froberg passed away Jan. 18 as the result of an auto accident. He was born Dec. 18, 1964, in Tennessee to Ronnie Froberg and Mary Lindsey Froberg. He was a Baptist in his faith. He was
an avid Harley Davidson fan who loved to ride his motorcycle. He and his wife, Janice, enjoyed riding together to Florida and going camping before he developed his health issues. John was an art lover also. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his wife, Janice Froberghalfbrother, Ron Frobergstepbrother, Alan Purdue, an 

uncle, James Lindsey (Sharon)and an auntJane Lindsey.
