Hartselle man killed in Saturday collision

One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision Saturday night on Highway 36 near Mt. Tabor in Hartselle.

Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn said John Wesley Froberg, 55, of Hartselle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It was a head-on collision,” Chunn said.

Chunn said 911 received a call about the accident at 4:13 p.m. Saturday. State troopers and Morgan County deputies worked to divert traffic from the area following the accident.

State troopers are investigating the cause of the accident. Troopers said the driver of the second vehicle was sent to a local hospital to be treated for unknown injuries.

The fatal accident comes approximately two weeks after the busy winter holiday travel period. Local officers worked nearly 20 accidents during the holiday period, with zero involving major injury or fatality.
