Hartselle Falls to Ramsay in Marvin Stone Classic

HUNTSVILLE – The 6A #3 Tigers dropped a 77-55 decision to the 5A #2 Ramsay Rams in the 5th Annual Marvin Stone Classic at UAH.

Brody Peebles scored 24 to lead the Tigers with 14 coming in the second half.

The Tigers built a 14-9 lead late in the first quarter but Ramsay closed the quarter on a 6-0 run to lead 15-14.

The Rams began to pull away in the second quarter. They broke a 19-19 tie with an 8-0 run to push the lead to 27-19. The teams traded baskets the rest of the half as Ramsay led 34-26 to end the first half.

Hartselle (20-5) would make a run at the Rams in the third as they cut the lead to four, 40-36, midway through the quarter. That would be the closest the Tigers would get as Ramsay finished the quarter on an 11-7 run to lead 51-42.

The fourth quarter belonged to the Rams, who outscored Hartselle 24-13 to make the final score 75-55.

Tad Sivley had 12 points and six rebounds for the Tigers while Kiah Key added 8 points and five rebounds.

Ramsay (16-6) was led by 6’9 Keshawn Murphy, who finished with 25 points, while CJ Burns added 12.

COACH KEY’S THOUGHTS: We didn’t shoot the ball particularly well tonight. They were able to get out in transition due to their rebounding and that hurt us. I believe we will learn from this and it will only make us a better team moving forward.

UP NEXT: Hartselle will play Brewer in the semi-finals of the Morgan County Tournament on Thursday night at 7:45 at Falkville High School. Brewer, the 4th seed, defeated Falkville 82-43 to advance.
