Kenneth Brandon Hanners 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Kenneth Brandon Hanners, 75, was Dec. 27 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ben Bates officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in New Center Cemetery.  

Mr. Hanners died Dec. 24 at his residence. He was born July 14, 1944, in Morgan County to Robert Brandon Hanners and Hazel E. Keel Hanners.  

Mr. Hanners worked at Delphi in Athens as a machinist prior to his retirement. He was a member of the UAW Local 2195. Mr. Hanners was a Vietnam veteran and served in the BTRY C 5th BN 42D ARTY-ARMY. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Overseas Bar.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patricia Lee Hanners and Sue Hanners Holmes. 

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Johnson Hanners, Hartselle; daughter Angela Hanners Wilson (Randall), Hartselle; sister Celia Hanners Hamm (David), Hartselle; and granddaughter Emmeline Louise Wilson. 

Pallbearers were Jeff Hanners, Jason Puckett, Matthew Hamm, Myron Puckett, Rodney McAbee and Von Yeager.    

 

Jack Mooneyham 

Blountsville 

Graveside service for Jack Mooneyham, 81, was Dec. 28 at noon at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Vaughn officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Mr. Mooneyham died Dec. 24 at his residence. He was born March 11, 1938, in Morgan County to Dorell B. Mooneyham and Lola Goree Mooneyham. Mr. Mooneyham owned Mooneyham Lumber Company. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Latane Johnson Mooneyham. 

Survivors include three sonsJeff Mooneyham, Greg Mooneyham (Susan) and Steve Mooneyham; daughter Debby M. O’Barr (Jarl); two brothers, John Mooneyham (Marilyn) and Joe Mooneyham (Martha); sister Willadean Sandlin; grandchildren Scott Mooneyham (Bethany), Meg M. Eubanks (Joseph), Alden O’Barr, Jake Mooneyham, Mackenzie O’Barr, Barrett O’Barr and Parker O’Barr; and great-grandchildren, Luke Mooneyham and Addison Eubanks. 

Pallbearers were family and friends. 

 

Judy Moon 

Somerville 

Funeral service for Judy Moon, 75, of Hartselle was Dec. 28 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with brother Frankie Flack, brother Charlie Brown and Dr. T. Reynolds Hall officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh Cemetery, with Peck Funeral Home directing.   

Mrs. Moon, who was born Jan. 11, 1944, in Morgan County to James Malcolm McAnally and Lorane Jackie Vaughn McAnally, died Dec. 25 at her home. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed gardening, her yardwork and collecting antiques.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Melissa Moon. 

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Vaughn Moon; two sons, Jerry V. Moon (Connie) and Jason K. Moon; one brother, Jimmy McAnally; and five grandchildren, Cole Moon, Bradley Moon, Brooklin Moon, Donavon Moon and Hayden Moon. 

Donavon Moon, Hayden Moon, Bradley Moon, Cole Moon, Carlton Wilson and Ronnie Frazier served as pallbearers. 

 

Tracy Nathaniel Newman
Somerville
Funeral service for Tracy Nathaniel Newman, 42, was Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at Valhermoso Holiness Church with Bro. Tim Patrick officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. His body was laid in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial was in the Valhermoso Holiness Cemetery. 
Mr. Newman died Dec. 26 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Sept. 8, 1977, in Morgan County to Ted Eugene Newman and Carol Hopper Newman. He was a team member at Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Alabama prior to his passing.  

He was a wonderful husband, brother, son and grandson.  

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gean Newman and Marvin and Omerlean Hopper, and his mother-in-law, Rita Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Andrea Christen Newman, Somerville; parents Ted and Carol Hopper Newman; brothers Tim Newman (Amber) and Eric Newman (Shontel); sister Celisa Dooley (Shane); grandmother Lois Newman; father-in-law Larry Smith (Abby); sister-in-law Charlene Jacobs (Daniel); and nieces and nephewsNick Newman, Shelby Ricketts (Shawn), McKenzie Newman, Alyssa Dooley, Eli Newman, Kelsey Dooley, Caleb Barbee, Laylah Dooley, Dakota Newman, Amelia Jo RickettsZowie Riedel and Chase Riedel 

Pallbearers were Eli Newman, Josh Olive, Caleb Barbee, Shawn Ricketts, Shane Dooley and Johnny Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Nick Newman and Michael Smith. 

 

Loraine Williams Cost
Hartselle
Funeral service for Loraine Williams Cost, 77, was Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Jerome Ward officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Mt. Zion
Cemetery. 
Mrs. Cost passed from this life into her heavenly home Dec. 27, where she finally met her Lord and Savior and was reunited with her loving husband, Mike.  

Loraine was born July 27, 1942, in Tibbie and grew up in Citronelle. She graduated from Citronelle High School in 1961 and briefly attended Clarke College in Newton, Miss., where she met the love of her life, Mike Cost. Mike and Loraine married July 14, 1962, and spent the next 57 years raising a family and serving the Lord.  

Loraine was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was an avid golfer and volunteered at the Carpenter’s Cabinet and the Hartselle Tabernacle. Loraine loved to go to yard sales with her best friend. The greatest joys of her life were her family and serving the Lord and her community.  

Preceding her in death were her husband, Mike Cost, and her parents, William Harvey and Fannie Ruth Webb Williams.
Survivors include two daughtersChris Cost Avery (Terry) and Karen Cost Griffith (Mark); two sonsMichael Craig Cost (Daphne) and William Mike Cost (Shonda); two brothersBilly Williams and John Paul Williams; a sisterRuthie Williams Nichols; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tony Russell, Todd Russell, Kevin Russell, Mark Griffith, Dillon Cost and Terry Avery.
 

Donna Joe “Jodie” McCormick


Danville
Funeral service for Donna Joe “Jodie” McCormick, 53, was Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Henderson and the Rev. Sandra Locke Godbey officiating and Peck Funeral Home
directing. Burial was in Herring Cemetery. 
Mrs. McCormick died Dec. 29 at her residence. She was born Sept. 25, 1966, in Morgan County to Billy Joe Parker and Dorothy Nell Thompson Parker. She was formerly the office manager for the Morrison’s Café in the Decatur Morgan Hospital location. She was a great wife and mother and a very good cook. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Joe Parker and a sister, Janet Lewis.
Survivors include her husbandKenny McCormick; one son and daughter-in-lawCody and Courtney McCormick; motherDorothy Nell Thompson Parker; one sisterDoris Thrasher; mother-in-lawBebe Reid; three nephews; one niece; and a host of greatnieces and nephews that she called her grandbabies.
Pallbearers were Jake Linderman, Jason McCormick, Jeremy McCormick, Brandon McCormick, Keith McCormick and Matthew McCormick.
Honorary pallbearers were Jonathan Thrasher, Justin Linderman and Dallas Pierce. 

 

Jerry Summerford


Madison
Funeral service for Jerry Summerford, 82, was Jan. 1 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dan Hopper and Bro. Coy Brothers officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  

Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens Jan. 2 at 2 p.m.
Mr. Summerford died Dec. 29 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Morgan County to Harold Whitton “Boots” Summerford and Alice Tucker Summerford. He was a business manager and purchasing agent for Construction Associates prior to his retirement.
He loved gardening and working in his yard, restoring tractors and taking care of his family. He loved being a member of Harmony Primitive Baptist Church.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wifeDot Frost Summerford; sonChip Summerford (Sherry); and two grandchildrenLeigha Summerford and Nina Summerford.
Pallbearers were Robert Summerford, Tom Summerford, Rodney Cooper, Ashley Hopper, Dakota Nobinger, Josh Pruitt, Jamie Barrentine, Buckley Hopper and Wesley Stump. 

 

Willie Bruce Harvel
Danville
Funeral service for Willie Bruce Harvel, 92, was Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Culp, the Rev. Jimmy Jones and the Rev. Stanley Linderman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. 
Mr. Harvel died Dec. 29 at his residence. He was born May 31, 1927, in Morgan County to James Lafayette Harvel and Lilly Pearl Tunstill Harvel. He was a member of Walden’s Chapel Baptist Church.  

He served in the United States Army and was assigned to Company C of the 1343rd Engineer Combat Battalion with the rank of sergeant first class.  

After retiring from Baker Industries in Hartselle, he farmed full time. He loved to garden, fish, coon hunt and squirrel hunt. He also enjoyed restoring old trucks and working with wood and was a wonderful carpenter.  

He was a loving husband of 56 years as well as a loving father, grandfather and greatgrandfather. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a true Christian example, loved by all who knew him. The hospice nurses who gave their time and care referred to him as a true example of a “fine Southern
gentleman.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 56 years, Adell Linderman Harvel, a son, Steve Harvel, his parents and a sister, Vera Harvel White.
Survivors include two sonsDanny Harvel, Danville, and Lynn Smith (Judy), Danville; four daughtersFaye Bowling, Moulton, Belinda Beasley, Hartselle, Shelia Harvel, Muscle Shoals, and Anita Lawrimore, Danville; three brothersJames (Buddy) Harvel, Eddie Harvel and Bobby Harvel; five sistersDoris Harvel Jansen (Hank), Evelyn Harvel Crowe, Wynola Harvel Garrison, Mary Faye Harvel Varnell and Jane Harvel McAbee; 19 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
 

Harolyn Morris Crow
Hartselle
Harolyn Morris Crow, 74, of Hartselle died Dec. 30, after living the life of a good and faithful servant to the benefit of her family, friends and many strangers.
A quiet and gentle soul, she encouraged the discouraged with kind words, brought joy to the joyless with her smile and corrected the errant with a certain look that left no doubt about what she thought.
Born Aug. 4, 1945, to Harold Bergen Morris and Wilda Pauline Morris, she attended Clarke College in Newton, Miss., and eventually retired from the loan department at SouthTrust Bank. Mrs. Crow was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church at Falkville, where she served as pianist for 59 years and Sunday
school teacher for 55 years and was involved in Vacation Bible School, Girls in Action, Benevolence Committee, choir and Woman’s Missionary Union.
She led many people to the Lord.
Mrs. Crow was active in her grandchildren’s lives and let them know she loved them and was proud of them. Her lifelong fondness for the Gulf of Mexico turned into an annual October pilgrimage to the beach with her husband and sometimes family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Don Hamil Crow; two daughters, Valerie Crow Higginbotham (John), and Christy Crow Bennich (Dan), both of Hartselle; stepmother, Bettie Morris of Hartselle; one brother, Scott Alan Morris of Florence; one sister, Ginger Morris Grantland of Hartselle; and four grandchildren, Alex Newell Higginbotham, Austin Hamil Higginbotham, Emma Claire Bennich and Owen Davis Bennich, all of Hartselle.
The family received friends Thursday from 57 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. Funeral was Friday at 1 p.m. at Lebanon Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Ray Lee and the Rev. Dr. Randy Ashley officiating. Burial was in Herring Cemetery at Massey.
Pallbearers were Jim Aycock, Ken Blackwood, Bill Dobbs, Mike Garnett, Bobby Rhodes and Lynn Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons at Lebanon Baptist Church.
 

Ashley Brooks Sharpton


Hartselle
Mr. Ashley Brooks Sharpton, 49, passed away Jan. 1 at his residence. He was born May 24, 1970, in Cullman County to Alton Verbon Sharpton and Patricia Ann Calvert Sharpton. He was formerly employed by Nicholson File and Cerro Wire prior to his passing.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.
No services are being scheduled.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Murphy Sharpton; brother Dennis Sharpton; and sister Lisa Sharpton Pugh. 

 

Judith Ann Wynn
Galien, Michigan
Funeral service for Judith Ann Wynn, 75, will be Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Coots officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. 
Ms. Wynn died Dec. 9 at Lakeland Hospital. She was born July 17, 1944, in West Virginia to Luther S. Adkins and Margie V. Browning Adkins.
Raised in Mineral City, West Virginia, she was a member of Claypool United Methodist Church and graduated from Man High School. Judith also attended Baltimore Business School. She met the love of her life, John Wynn, in New York City and married John May 28, 1967. They raised their three children, Jeff, Paul and Melissa together, and later called Town Creek their home. Judy was a member of First Baptist Church in Town Creek.
Judy later returned to West Virginia to be with her sisters and, after an illness, moved to Michigan to live with her son, Jeff.
She loved roses, working in her yard, spending time with her family, singing in the church choir, sharing her testimony and traveling with her husband. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be truly be missed by many.
Preceding her in death were her husband, John Wynn, her parents and two
sisters, Janet Grimmett and Joyce Brown.
Survivors include two sonsJeff Wynn (Tina), Galien, Mich.; Paul Wynn (Stacy), Panama City, Fla.; daughterMelissa Wynn (Tony Dunevent), Panama City, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
