Prominent singer Ivan Parker to sing at Falkville Baptist
The members of Falkville First Baptist Church are pleased to welcome Gospel Music Association Award winner Ivan Parker as their guest singer Oct. 6 at 6 p.m.
Ivan’s son Josh will be the guitarist for the program. There will be no admission charge; however, a love offering will be accepted.
Danville High School to host concert
Danville High School will be sponsoring a fundraiser concert featuring The Velcro Pygmies Sept. 25.
The admission charge will be $5. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Falkville United Methodist Church News
The members of Falkville United Methodist will have a covered dish fellowship lunch for the congregation and visitors following the morning worship hour Oct. 6.
Falkville United Methodist Church members also have plans to compete for the fall festival prize for autumn outdoor decoration in early October.
Falkville Public Library Board holds meeting
The Falkville Public Library Board met Sept. 10 in the conference room at 4:30 p.m.
Rhona Summerford presided, and Jane Hill gave the minutes from the last meeting. Pam MacDonald gave the treasurer’s report, and Jenny Asherbranner gave the librarian report and also encouraged everyone to come by and check out a best-seller fiction from a select new assortment of books.
Children’s books, self-help books, inspiration, crafts, fiction, western, food and non-fiction books will be bagged and sold for $5 at the festival Oct. 12. The library booth will be on Railroad Street by the building.
Used books are on sale at all times, and donations are welcomed. Computers are available daily, along with reference materials, movies and other resources for the public.
Echota Cherokee Tribe to hold festival
The Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama will hold its 22nd annual festival Sept. 28-29 at the Echota Cherokee Tribal Grounds. The grand entry will be at noon, and the admission will be $5 for adults, $3 for ages 6-14 and $3 for ages 65 and older.
Bring a lawn chair and share in the tradition. The festival will also feature Miss Indian Alabama.
