Christal Sharee Rouse Miller 

Danville 

A memorial service for Christal Sharee Rouse Miller, 28, was Aug. 17 at 4 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Peck Funeral Home assisting the family. 

Mrs. Miller died Aug. 10. She was born Aug. 29, 1990, in Morgan County to James “Bud” Rouse and Gera Brown Rouse. She was employed by the Target Distribution Center as a warehouse associate. 

Survivors include one son, Weston Rouse; one daughter, Bellarae Rouse; parents, James “Bud” and Gera Brown Rouse; one brother, Kale “Bubba” Rouse (Jessica); one sister, Katherine “Boo” Rouse; aunts, Lesa Pinson, Patricia Woodall and Donna Taylor; and nephew, Sutton Rouse. 

 

Michael Fred Jennings 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Michael Fred Jennings, 62, was Aug. 14 at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeremy Harbin officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Valhermoso Springs Cemetery. 

Mr. Jennings died Aug. 11 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born March 10, 1957, in Chicago, Ill., to Fred Jennings and Peggy Green Jennings. 

He was employed as a welder and supervisor for Sonoco and Medco. He served in the United States Army for eight years and was a member of the First Christian Church at Valhermoso Springs. 

He was preceded in death by his mother and a daughter, Misty June Jennings. 

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Jennings; three sons, Chad Jennings, Chris Jennings and Harley Reed; one daughter, Sheena Reed; father, Fred Jennings; one brother, Shane Jennings; two sisters, Tammy Randolph and Angela Freeman; and six grandchildren, Cieara Popdan, Madison Brown, Isaac Brown, Dylin Jennings, Shyan Jennings and Brooklyn Jennings. 

Pallbearers were Danny Freeman, Drake Harris, Nathan Fielder, Keith Randolph, Dylin Jennings and Kyle Nichols. 

 

Ina Jean Elizabeth Collins Callahan 

Hartselle 

A graveside funeral service and interment for Ina Jean Elizabeth Collins Callahan, 82, were held Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. at New Salem Cemetery with Bro. James Glover officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 

Mrs. Callahan died Aug. 11 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born April 16, 1937, in Morgan County to James Marcus Collins and Ruby Gertrude Maze Collins. 

Ina Jean was well-known throughout the Somerville community for her generosity to those in need or in a crisis. Her efforts included preparing meals and donating canned goods, clothing or whatever the need might be. She loved babies and children without exception and her beloved dog, Beth. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Audie Collins and Robert Callahan. 

Survivors include one brother, Joseph Collins; one sister, Nancey Morrow; cousin, Vickey Maze Daley; and nephews, Kevin Morrow, Chris Collins and Chad Collins. 

Pallbearers were Kevin Morrow, Louis Daughette, Hunter Roberts, James Glover, Michael Waits and Charles Daley. Honorary pallbearers were Ed Skelton and Joseph Collins. 

 

Allison Wimberley 

Danville 

A celebration of life for Allison Wimberley, 54, of Danville was held Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Peck Funeral Home. 

Allison was born March 21, 1965, in Lawrence County. She passed away Aug. 10 in Decatur. She is remembered for her strength, thoughtfulness and as a selfless person. She took everyone in as her own, and she loved her family more than life itself. To have known Allison was to have loved Allison. 

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Terry Wimberley; son Dexter Wimberley and wife Brittany; daughter Tara Wimberley; parents Mac Arthur Shelton and Willie Shelton; brother Derek Shelton and wife Pam; niece Sydni Shelton; and nephew Preston Shelton, all of Danville. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations either be sent to the Clearview Cancer Institute @russellhill.org/donate in memory of Allison Wimberley or to the Allison Wimberley Memorial Fund being set up by the family. For now any monetary donations will be accepted by the family and placed in a memorial fund once it has been established. The family’s goal is to help provide hospitality and comfort to other individuals going through cancer care at the local CCI that provided such great care of Allison. 

 

Steven Rogers 

Falkville 

A memorial service for Steven Rogers, 64, was held Aug. 16 at 5 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Bro. Sam Evans officiating. 

Mr. Rogers died Aug. 13 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born June 12, 1955, in Morgan County to Dempsey Wade Rogers and Virginia Louise Neville Rogers. He was employed by Lee Greene Associates and worked for 30 plus years as a land surveyor. He spent many hours rocking in his chair, watching sports as a lifelong Alabama fan and sideline coach. He also was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He was loved by many family, friends and special co-workers. Preceding him in death was a brother, James Wade Rogers, a sister, Gayle Wright, and his parents. 

Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Sims (Gary); one brother, John Rogers; and one sister, Susan Basden. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Building Fund at 550 Bird Spring Road SW, Hartselle 35640. 

 

LeeAnna Osborn Denton

Decatur 

A funeral service for LeeAnna Osborn Denton, 105, was held Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in the Upshaw community, with Bro. Chris Richerson and Bro. Donny Carroll officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery (Upshaw). 

Mrs. Denton was called to her eternal rest with God Aug. 12 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born Dec. 14, 1913, in Lawrence County to Frank Ingram Osborn and Mary Ellen Dobbs Osborn. 

Mrs. Denton grew up in a musical family and was involved most of her life in gospel singing. She was given a Congressional Accommodation by Congressman Aderholt for her many years dedicated to and supporting the advancement of gospel singing. She enjoyed singing, playing piano, fishing, quilting, sewing her own clothes, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis L. Denton; her parents; three brothers, Cecil Walker Osborn, George Wilmer Osborn and one stillborn and not named; and three sisters, Jewell Mildred Osborn, Rilla Ann Osborn Morgan and Bertie Bell Osborn Russell. 

Survivors include one son, George Bennet Denton (Gladys); two daughters, Patricia Ophelia Denton Mason and Mary Prathyl Denton Jackson (Don); three brothers, James Palmer Osborn, William Osborn and Doyle Osborn (Bobbi); one sister, June Osborn Clark (Leslie); 12 grandchildren, George Curtis Denton (Angie), John Frank Denton, Michael Allen Denton, Michelle Rene Denton, Bradford Allen Jackson (Candie), Wayne Kelly Jackson, Danel Lee Jackson (Rhonda), John Keith Rigoni (Terri), Christopher Curtis Rigoni (and friend Sara), Shane Audry Haynes (Pam), Penny Jewell Rigoni Wynn (Jonathan) and DonAnna Haynes Roberts (Gary); 32 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers were grandsons. 

 

Gena Marie Luker Hitt 

Somerville 

A celebration of life service for Gena Marie Luker Hitt, 63, was held Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in New Center Cemetery. 

Mrs. Gena Hitt passed away Aug. 12 at Crestwood Medical Center, with her family at her side. She was born July 19, 1956, in Morgan County to Martin (Marky) Luther Luker and Cora Lee Blankenship Luker, who preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her husband, Pat A. Hitt; two daughters, Jeanie Carpenter (James) and Jamie Hitt; one brother, Ronnie Luker; and five grandchildren, Cyle Carpenter, Caleb Carpenter, Allyson Stephenson, Matilyn Stephenson and James Armstrong. 

Gena loved life. She loved her family and her friends and spending plenty of time with them both at home and on the road. She loved traveling around the country, driving the “Big Rig” with her husband, for more than 30 years. She made friends everywhere she traveled and was a true joy to be around. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Pallbearers were Jim Wiggington, Brad Mansell, Austin Wiggington, Mike Groves, Nick Wiggington and Ken Wiggington. 

 

Marshall Kim Mooney 

Decatur 

Funeral service for Marshall Kim Mooney, 66, was Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Martin Poe officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Roselawn. 

Mr. Mooney died Aug. 13 at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley. He was born March 28, 1953, in Morgan County to Charles Ed Mooney and Juanita G. Harris Mooney. 

He was employed with the Morgan County School system as a teacher and for the Fellowship Baptist Church as their minister of music. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. 

Preceding him in death were his father, Charles Mooney; a brother, Jackie Mooney; a son-in-law, David Norwood; and grandparents, Porter and Daisy Harris and John and Zula Mooney. 

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Mooney; two daughters, Jennifer Norwood and Tara Knowles (Jason); mother, Juanita Mooney; three brothers, Mike Mooney (Martha), Brad Mooney (Shelley) and Tim Mooney (Dee); and four grandchildren, Ethan Norwood, Dawson Norwood, Austyn Knowles and Landyn Knowles. 

Pallbearers were Jason Knowles, Ethan Norwood, Dawson Norwood, Austyn Knowles, Garrett Burrow and Thomas Poe. 

 

Ronald Allan Krupa 

Laceys Spring 

Funeral service for Ronald Allan Krupa, 67, was Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Larkin officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. 

Mr. Krupa died Aug. 14 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Oct. 12, 1951, in Wayne County, Mich., to Andrew Krupa and Gertrude Carmack Krupa. 

Mr. Krupa was a very mechanically-inclined craftsman. He loved spending time with his grandkids. He was an honest, wise, loving, selfless family man, who kept his family as one of his greatest priorities. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. 

He was a Vietnam veteran, awarded the Freedom Team Salute Certificate of Appreciation, and was also awarded the highest honor of a Cross of Military Service during the Vietnam War. He served as a specialist fifth class for the United States Army in Saigon. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his wife, Gala Krupa, Laceys Spring; three daughters, Amy Lynn Smith (David), Laceys Spring, Shannon Marie Whisenant (John), Somerville, and Lindsay Nicole Powers (Jeffery), Somerville; four sisters, Carol Johnson, Warren, Mich., Anita Pahman, Town Creek, Janet Taylor, Chase, Mich., and Janice Boyd, McMinnville, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jeff Powers, John Whisenant, David Smith, Bailey Roberts, David Austin Smith and Tyler Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Bentley and Logan Powers. 

 

Lila Ruth Archer Kay 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Lila Ruth Archer Kay, 83, was Aug. 17 at noon at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Wright and Bobby Puckett officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens. 

Mrs. Kay died Aug. 13 at her residence. She was born March 21, 1936, in Etowah County to Theodore Calvin Archer Jr. and Ruth Puckett Archer. She was a teacher, employed with the Hartselle City Schools system, until her retirement. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Kay, and her parents. 

Survivors include one son, Terry Kay (Tonja); one daughter, Belinda Anne Kay; one sister, Sara Lynn Archer Andrews (Don); five grandchildren, Danny Lee McCravy, Judson Thomas McCravy, Hannah Kay McCravy, Tanner Davis Kay and Tori-Anna Kay; and three great-grandchildren, Helena Georgia McCravy, Laney McCravy and Heidi McCravy. 

Corey LaBounty, Zane LaBounty, Lee McCravy, Judson McCravy and Tanner Kay served as pallbearers. The family would like to express a special thanks to Robin and Tameka of Family Hospice Care and to Janice Goodwin, her special caregiver. 

 

Lillian Smith 

Hartselle 

A graveside funeral service and interment for Lillian Smith, 88, were held Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at Salem Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. 

Mrs. Smith died Aug. 15 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born June 7, 1931, in Cullman County to John David Hallman and Katie Pitman Hallman. She was a homemaker and a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Billy Joe Smith, and her parents. Survivors include one son, Keith Smith, Decatur; one daughter, Kelly Smith, Hartselle; and one sister, Brenda Bryant (Lynn), Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. 

 

Ilene Smith 

Somerville 

Funeral service for Ilene Smith, 89, was Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shane Lewis and Bro. Tim Patrick officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. 

Mrs. Smith died Aug. 15 at her residence. She was born May 5, 1930, in Lawrence County to Perry Wilson and Kittie Lou Jenkins Wilson. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She loved her flowers, raising her garden and canning vegetables. She also loved to watch her hummingbirds feed at their feeder. Her family was especially important in her life, as she loved them with all her heart, along with her extended family. She loved those new babies joining the family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Wesley Smith Jr., and her parents. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all the caregivers that helped the family with her care. 

Survivors include two sons, Norman Smith (Catherine), Somerville, and Norton Smith (Lazelle), Somerville; one daughter, Brenda Wilhoite (Andy), Somerville; one sister, Shirene Crowe; eight grandchildren, Brandi, Adam, Charlotte, Jackie, Dustin, Michael, Johnny and Brittney; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Johnny Smith, Michael Smith, Adam Smith, Dusty Free, Patrick Dye and Brian Robinson. 

 

Edwin M. Black 

Hartselle 

Funeral service for Edwin M. Black, 73, was Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Greg Lee and Pastor Brad Sheats officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Falkville City Cemetery. 

Mr. Black died Aug. 15 at his residence. He was born Nov. 30, 1945, in Morgan County to Milford Russell Black and Martha Laverne Floyd Black. He was employed by Boeing-Lockheed Martin and U.S. Steel as a computer analyst and computer programmer prior to his retirement. 

He had a vast knowledge of the Bible and a steadfast love for his heavenly Father. He also had a great love for crossword puzzles, Wheel of Fortune and arguing with umpires. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Segars Black, Hartselle; two daughters, Andrea Black Greenhill (Jason), Hartselle, and Kimberly Black Pike (Josh), Enterprise; one Brother, Larry Black (Diane), Cullman; and five grandsons, Jake Ryan, Brady Greenhill, Sam Pike, Ben Pike and Brandt Pike.

Pallbearers were Geremy Segars, Ronnie Cornhill, Steve Haynes, Jodie Mote, Corey Griffin and Donald Greenhill. 

 

Roy S. Wallace 

Hartselle 

A graveside funeral service and interment for Roy S. Wallace, 91, were Aug. 20 at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Walter Blackman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. 

Mr. Wallace died Aug. 18 at his residence. He was born June 30, 1928, in Morgan County to Richard Sherrill Wallace and Era Hazel Marshall Wallace. He was an electrician and maintenance supervisor for NASA and Marshall Space Flight Center prior to his retirement. 

He was a retired minister of music, serving at several area churches over the past 30-year period, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of East Highland Baptist Church. 

Preceding him in death were his wife, Reba S. Wallace, and his parents. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Edward Wallace (Susan Green Wallace) and Randell Wallace; two sisters, Betty Ward and Barbara Lee (Harold “Pete” Lee); three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Jason Wallace, Matt Watson, Randall Lee, Mike Ward, Gary Wallace and Jeff Lee. Honorary pallbearers were John Lee, Hampton Wallace and Luke Watson.
