City moves forward on pocket park

The City of Hartselle has moved forward on their plans for a pocket park in downtown Hartselle. Playground equipment began being installed in an empty lot earlier this week.

The pocket park comes as part of a $50K grant from the Alabama Resource Conservation Council and is part of long term plans to have a green space downtown connecting the park to the farmer’s market. In a previous interview Mayor Randy Garrison said he hopes the park will be able to facilitate more foot traffic in downtown.

“My long-term goal is to have a greenspace from the farmer’s market to downtown so traffic will flow in both directions,” Garrison said. “People downtown can walk over to the farmer’s market, and you can have events at the farmer’s market, and people can walk downtown.”

The park is located at 116 Main St. W in Hartselle.
