Two deputies join Morgan County Sheriff’s Office

With a goal to increase the patrol presence of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Morgan County ‘top cop’ Sheriff Ron Puckett said he is excited to invest in the department’s young deputies. Two staff members of the Morgan County Jail graduated from the law enforcement academy July 19. Correction officers Austin Addison, 24 of Hulaco and Celese Sharbutt, 25 of Danville completed the 13-week academy in Tuscaloosa. According to a press release, Addison and Sharbutt will now complete a field training program alongside an MCSO field training officer. Earlier in 2019, the sheriff’s office had 13 internal employees participate in the selection process in hopes of being sent to the academy. Four were selected with two currently attending the academy in Jefferson County.

“One way to meet this goal (of increasing patrol presence) is to create career pathing options for our existing employees,” Puckett said. “I’m excited to be able to invest in these young deputies … as they begin their law enforcement career with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.”
