Hartselle 6U, 8U Black win Area Tournament

The Hartselle All-Stars teams competed in the USSSA North Area Tournament this past weekend in Athens. This tournament is the lead-in to the state tournament, which begins June 20 in Alabaster and Calera.

6U

The Hartselle girls won their third tournament in a row in winning the Area Tournament. They defeated Decatur in the finals by a score of 22-6, and they now advance to the state tournament.

They will begin play Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. against the winner of Morris and Odenville.

Decatur was the only other team from the North Area advancing to state. The Decatur girls will open against McCalla Thursday night at 7:15 p.m.

All 6U games will be played at Warrior Park in Alabaster.

  • Hartselle 22, Decatur 6 (championship game)

8U

The Hartselle Black girls won their second tournament of the all-star season by defeating Central 20-2 in the finals Saturday afternoon. They now advance to the state tournament as one of the top seeds, beginning play Thursday at 8:30 p.m. against the winner of Oak Mountain and Prattville.

Hartselle Grey got knocked out of the tournament by Central in the loser’s bracket by a score of 8-7. Grey will open state tournament play Thursday night at 7:15 p.m. against Moody.

All 8U games will be held at Eagle Park in Calera.

10U

The Hartselle 10U girls won their opening game by defeating Decatur 14-9. In their next game, they fell to Florence 14-1 to fall into the loser’s bracket.

Their tournament ended with a 13-11 loss to the Morgan County All-Stars.

Hartselle will start play in the state tournament Thursday night at 7:15 p.m. against West Alabama. All 10U games will be held at Eagle Park in Calera.

The state tournament starts Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. with Opening Ceremonies at the new Thompson High School in Alabaster. Games will begin at 6 p.m. and will continue with games Friday before finishing up Saturday.
