Ethan Cowart picks up numerous accolades following junior year

Ethan Cowart, a Hartselle 2016 graduate, recently completed his junior year on the track team at the University of Mobile. Following the season, he has picked up numerous accolades for his academic and athletic achievements.

Recently he was inducted into Delta Mu Delta, an international honor society that recognizes academic excellence in those pursuing degrees in business administration. Delta Mu Delta was founded Nov. 18, 1913, by the dean from Harvard University and four professors from Yale University and New York University.

In May Cowart was one of three Mobile track athletes named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

The Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete program recognizes excellence in the classroom for those NAIA student-athletes who are juniors or seniors with an academic standing of a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active, and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA post-season competition.

In April Cowart was one of two University of Mobile track athletes named to the Southern States Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. To be named to the All-Academic Team, he had to maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while balancing the demands of a collegiate athlete.
