Mt. Zion Baptist Church hosts Singspiration March 31

The members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church will host their 5th Sunday Singspiration March 31 at 6 p.m. Eight to ten area churches are expected to participate with a choir, solo or small group music numbers. Dr. Jerome Ward will direct the event.
Refreshments will be served by the host church and volunteers. Everyone is welcome to attend the Singspiration for music and fellowship.

Area families welcome new arrivals

John and Rachel Wilhite Patterson are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Easton Henry Patterson. Easton was born Feb. 3 and weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 19 and 3/4 inches long. His great-great-grandparents are the late Robert Lewis and Allene Turrentine.
Jonathan and Whitney Byrd are happy to announce the birth of their daughter, Blakely Nora Byrd. Blakely was born Feb. 16 and weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 19 inches long. Her proud grandparents are Robert Byrd, Vickie Kennedy, Max Fleming and the late Cindy Fleming. Blakely’s great-grandparents are David and Ruth Sparkman and the late Olan and Nora Byrd.Salem United Methodist Church Activities

The Salem United Methodist women’s group met March 14 at 10 a.m. The unit met in the UMW room in the education building.
Elizabeth Vinzant presided at the meeting. Kathy Curello gave the treasurer’s report. The District and North Alabama Conference meetings were discussed, and Carolyn Besnyl will attend the meetings. More members were encouraged to go and participate at the meetings. The pastor problem was discussed since Salem UMC doesn’t have a pastor at this time. Lay speakers from Hartselle First United Methodist Church are filling in for Sunday worship service at a time convenient for them. Salem Church members and the community appreciate their help.

Lions Club holds breakfast meeting

The Lions Club of Falkville had its bimonthly breakfast meeting March 9 at 7 a.m. The group also had a business session in the conference room at the town hall. Terry Napier presided at the meeting.
Corinth West Baptist Church Events

Dawn Shedd and Patti Condo were in charge of serving breakfast for the Corinth West Baptist Church Men’s Club and women’s group March 3 at 10 a.m. Jessie Emerson presided at the meeting, and Christie Guthrie gave the devotional.
The church members held their Senior Citizens Day March 19.

Plans for Bible School were also discussed. Tony Smithson teaches the Discipleship Training Union study on “Life Principles for Worship from the Tabernacle” Sundays at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome, and the evening worship service is at 6 p.m. The Rev. Glenn Miller is their pastor. Taylor Emerson is song leader, and Shanda Garner is the pianist.
Falkville Town Hall News
Falkville’s court magistrate Bonnie Thompson plans the employee safety class each month.
For the month of February the group met in the conference room for a video on flu prevention and treatment. This month’s class will be on weather alerts and storm safety.
Chris Free, police chief, also assists with the safety programs for the town hall.

Falkville First Baptist Church Activities

DNOW, or Discovery Now, weekend was held at Falkville First Baptist Church March 1-3.
The activity was a success and was a great experience for the church’s youth and the Mt. Zion Baptist youth as well. The youth stayed in host homes in the area.
Patrick Smith is the Falkville youth director, and their pastor is the Rev. Stephen Cannon. The Mt. Zion director is Jamie Stewart, and their pastor is the Rev. Edwin Hayes.
Both groups appreciate the town and community support.
Falkville United Methodist Church Activities
Dan and Debbie Higginbotham were counselors at the youth meeting at Falkville United Methodist Church Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. The group enjoyed supper provided by Dan and Debbie and the program by Dan as well.
Recreation followed the program, in the fellowship hall.
Mt. Zion Baptist Church Events
The Mt. Zion Baptist Church members’ goal for missions will be met by donations and the Annie Armstrong Special offering. Their church mission trip will be to Guatemala. Those interested in going should sign up at the church and contact Lasanna Holmes or Loretta Gilstrap. Fundraiser events will be announced at a later date.
