Tigers shut out Hazel Green, 33-0

By Sam Roberts

For the Enquirer

The Tigers entered Friday night’s matchup unbeaten and ranked 5th as they were hosted by the Hazel Green Trojans.

After winning the toss and elected to receiveHartselle’s Keondre Swoopes soon dashed to the end-zone for a 65-yard touchdown run to put the Tigers on the board first.

The Trojans continued to struggle to find any momentum against a stout Hartselle defense and failed to find any momentum in the first half as they were scoreless at halftime. After a strong defensive stand, the Tigers marched back down the field and into the red-zone where Bryan Munoz chipped in a 28-yard field goal.

The Tigers soon regained possession after an interception by Andy Lamb and Godsey made his way through the defense for a two-yard rushing touchdown. Hazel Green continued to struggle to find any momentum as the Tiger defense forced a safety, fumble, and interception within four minutes, and Hartselle derived a 26-0 advantage into the half after another long touchdown run by Keondre Swoopes.

The Tigers only strengthened their commanding lead through the remainder of the night with Godsey connecting with Brinten Barclay for a touchdown pass as the Hartselle defense continued to dominatesecuring a 33-0 Tiger victory.

Hartselle (9-0) will host Scottsboro (4-5) next week to face the Wildcats on Senior Night.
