Morgan County Drive-Thru Flu Clinic available Oct. 18
The Morgan County Health Department and the Morgan County Emergency Management Agency will conduct a drive-thru flu clinic Oct. 18 at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Decatur from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. or until the quantity is exhausted. The fairgrounds are located at 2919 Fairgrounds Road.
It is recommended that the following persons receive the flu vaccine:
-pregnant women
-children older than six months
-people older than 50
-anyone with a chronic disease
-healthcare professionals
According to a press release, the purpose of the clinic is to provide flu vaccines to the general public to assist in reducing flu illness and prevent flu-related hospitalizations. MCHD and Morgan EMA will also use this clinic as an exercise to respond in case an Influenza outbreak occurred and a mass vaccination is needed to help prevent the spread of a virus. The exercise is a joint response between Morgan County Public Health, Morgan County EMA, Decatur Police Department, Decatur Fire & Rescue and the Morgan County Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD).
Flu vaccines cost $5 or are free with a Medicare card present.
