Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Hartselle Historical Society, I would like to thank the many people who attended Down Memory Lane at the Crabb, Stewart, Key, Dotson House on September 10.  There were well over 225 in attendance.  The many kind words and your attendance were an encouragement to the directors who strive each year to present a historical event for Depot Days.

A very special thank you goes to Robert and Janice Dotson for their generous contribution and hard work to make Down Memory Lane a big success.  If you have stories or historical information about the house, they would greatly appreciate hearing from you as they continue to search for additional history.

Also, hearty thanks is due the Morgan County Cattlemen’s Association for preparing the food for the event.  Their part in any special occasion is a welcomed addition.

The Historical Society’s next event is in conjunction with the 200 Year Bicentennial Celebrations of Alabama becoming a state.  The Society will offer Lunch and Learn sessions each FIRST MONDAY of the month beginning in October 2018 through April 2019.  These sessions will be at the Historic Burleson Center at 307 College Street, NE, Hartselle.  The time will be 12:00 – 1:30.  Bring your lunch, if you like.  Lemonade, water and cookies will be provided.  Should you need additional information, you may call 256-773-9390 or 256-318-3841. The first session on October 1 will be information about the early settlers in Morgan County and surrounding areas.  This will be presented by John Alison of the Morgan County Archives and David Breland, Decatur Historian.   Your attendance will be greatly appreciated.
