Softball:

Lady Tigers dominate in sweep of Columbia

HARTSELLE – It took just eight combined innings for the Hartselle (5-2) softball team to dispatch of area rival Columbia in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.

Hartselle 15. Columbia 0

Natalie King ended the opening game with a grand slam as the Lady Tigers easily handled Columbia 15-0. Brooklyn Wallace also homered in the contest as Kylie Winton (2), Kalli Cartee (2), Mackenzie Jackson (2), Jada Henderson (2), Kylie Winton (1), Kylie DuBose (1) and LaNinya Wiggins (1) all drove in runs in the victory.

Morgyn Sparkman was dominant in the circle for Hartselle. She tossed a 3.0 scoreless innings while striking out four to earn the win.

Hartselle 16, Columbia 2

Leading just 4-2 heading into the top of the fifth inning, Hartselle put up a 12-spot in the visiting half of the frame to claim a second consecutive decisive victory over Columbia. Wallace picked up her second homer in as many games and both Kalli and Lillyanna Cartee went yard as well. Winton finished the game 3-3 with three RBIs. Kenzie Parker and Amber Crittenden also picked up an RBI each.

Katy Sparkman tossed four innings in the circle, striking out six to earn the win. Morgyn Sparkman came on in relief to strike out the side in the fifth inning to close out the victory.

Arab 18, Brewer 13

Brewer falls to Arab in offensive shootout

ARAB – In a game that saw 36 hits and 31 combined runs, the Brewer softball team fell to Arab 18-13 on Tuesday afternoon. Hannah Buchanan and Dallas Linderman combined for eight hits and eight RBIs but it was not enough to propel the Lady Patriots to victory.

Madisen Adams (3-5, three runs, two RBIs) Taylor Dudley (3-4, two runs), Amanda Knighten (2-3, two RBIs) and Kelsi Lemmond (2-4, two runs) all notched multiple hits for Brewer in the setback.

Priceville 5, Elkmont 4

Priceville rallies late to top Elkmont

ELKMONT – Trailing by one entering the final inning, the Priceville softball team stormed back with a pair of runs in the inning to take down Elkmont 5-4. Destinee Hargrove went 3-4 at the plate including a pair of double and two RBIs. Abigail Garrison and Abby Hensley each picked up two hits for the Lady Bulldogs in the win.

Ashlyn McDonald picked up the victory in the circle, tossing all seven inning and striking out three. She allowed just two earned runs.

Baseball:

Brewer 4, Crossville 3

CROSSVILLE – For the third consecutive game, the Brewer baseball team picked up a 4-3 win. This time the Patriots topped Crossville despite having just three hits in the contest. Hayden Mahan accounted for two of those hits and also scored a run. Logan Cobb recorded two RBIs while Dalton Gilmore and Cameron Brown picked up one RBI each.

The duo of Jacob McMinemon and Zach Kodra controlled the action on the mound. McMinemon started the contest and tossed 3.1 innings allowing two earned runs and striking out two. Kodra finished the final 3.2 innings and struck out seven Crossville batters.

Tennis:

Hartselle girls win again, boys drop heartbreaker in tennis

Hartselle def. Cullman 7-2 (Varsity Girls)

Caroline Jones (10-4), Sydney Pham (10-4) , Kenzie Hamlett (10-2), Macie Cagle (10-3) and McKenna Wright (10-8) all picked up singles victories as the Hartselle girls tennis squad comfortably took down Cullman 7-2. The duos of Jones/Pham (10-6) and Hamlett Cagle (10-7) also earned wins in doubles.

Cullman def. Hartselle 5-4 (Varsity Boys)

Seth Mckee (10-8), Austin Taylor (10-8) and Mark Cera (10-6) each earned single wins but it was not enough as the Hartselle varsity boys dropped a 5-4 decision to Cullman on Tuesday. McKee and Cera (10-7) also combined to pick a doubles point.

Soccer:

Albertville 1, Brewer 0 (Varsity Boys)

Albertville 9, Brewer 0 (Varsity Girls)
