The River City Pythons, Morgan County’s development football team, played their last regular season game this past Saturday. The Pythons met the Alabama Sabers for the conference championship at West Morgan’s football stadium.

The Sabers opened the game by driving inside the Python’s 20 yard line. However, River City was able to hold them and force them to turn over on downs. After a three out, the Sabers got right back down to business. A screen pass that was took to the house pit the first points on the board. The Sabers took an 8-0 lead with 4:52 left in the first quarter.

The Python’s responded on the ensuing kickoff as they returned it all the way to the one yard line. A one yard touchdown run and a successful two point conversion later and the Pythons tied the game 8-8. However, that wouldn’t last long as the Alabama Sabers went on to take control of the game and take the win 46-16.
