Lady Tigers play hard at Gulf Shores

The Hartselle Lady Tigers spent their spring break like they always do, which was playing in the Gulf Shores tournament.

Hartselle 0, Demopolis 2:

The Lady Tigers were held scoreless in the first game of the tournament. Demopolis put two runs on the board in the fourth to take the win. Kylie Winton, Gracie Poe and Taylor Spangler got the Tiger’s only hits in the game. Gracie Poe took the loss. She gave up five hits and two runs with five strikeouts in seven innings pitched.

Hartselle 5, Benjamin Russell 8:

Hartselle built a commanding 5-0 lead in the first inning only to see it slip away as they failed to score anymore runs. Emily Cowart, Gracie Poe, Carrington Standridge and Kaylee Murphy each had an RBI in in the first inning with Cowart getting two.

Hartselle 3, Hoover 4:

Hartselle dropped their third straight game of the tournament in what was a tight contest against the Hoover Lady Buccaneers. Hartselle took a 3-2 lead after the first inning thanks to two RBI singles from Mackenzie Jackson and Kalli Cartee. Hoover scored the go ahead run in the sixth inning. Hartselle failed to score in the bottom of the sixth and the game ended there due to tournament time limit rules. Gracie Poe and Cartee led the Tigers with two hits each.

Hartselle 10, Dothan 3:

The Lady Tigers got their first win of the tournament by blitzing Dothan. Hartselle scored all 10 of their runs in the first two innings. Mackenzie Jackson blasted a homerun for the Tigers in the first inning. Kalli Cartee led the Tigers in hits with three. Jackson, Carrington Standridge and Kylie Dubose each had two

hits. Emily Cowart finished with three RBIs. Gracie Poe got the win for Hartselle. Poe allowed no hits and no runs with three strikeouts in three innings pitched.

Hartselle 2, Clarksville 1:

Hartselle got the narrow win over Clarksville in this game as they outhit them 8-4. The Tigers tied the game when Kalli Cartee singled to drive in Kylie Dubose. Kylie Winton hit a sacrifice fly to score McKenzey Worley to give Hartselle the lead and the win. Gracie Poe and Emily Cowart led the Tigers with two hits each. Poe got the win for the Tigers. She allowed just four hits and one run with two strikeouts in five innings pitched.

Hartselle 5, Thompson 7:

Hartselle lost their final game of the tournament in a back and forth affair to the Thompson Lady Warriors. A big five run fifth inning by the Warriors doomed the Tigers. Emily Cowart led the Tigers with three hits while Mackenzie Jackson finished with two.
