Corinth West Baptist women attend conference in Pigeon Forge

Gayle Miller of Neel, Dana Henslee and Christie Guthrie of Hartselle returned home on Sun., March 26th from Phil Waldrop’s “Women of Joy Conference” in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. The Conference began on March 24. The theme of the event was “Immeasurably More.” We need to be with Jesus, more. These women represented the women’s group at Corinth West Baptist Church. Speakers at the conference were Jennifer Rothschild, Angela Thomas Pharr, Sylvia Harney and a Christian comedian who brought joy. The worship leader was Charles Billingsley. Everyone was inspired and entertained by the speakers and leaders. The Corinth group will be able to use some of the ideas and information for their June Conference locally. The Massey Community supper on Fri., March 24 at 5:30 p.m. featured spaghetti prepared by Angel Bussey and Chris Holmes, salads, desserts such as dirt cake, donuts, cream cheese squares and tea. McKendree United Methodist Church hosted the event. After the meal the program included the blessings of what the Recovery procedure does and the Serenity Prayer. A video was shown about a woman’s testimony on abuse and addiction. Noah Battles played the guitar and led 3 praise songs.

Mount Zion Baptist Women’s Missionary Union met on Mon., March 20 at 6:30 p.m. Judy Thompson hosted the meeting. The group studied from the Book of Genesis for their program. April 9 was scheduled for the Easter Egg Hunt. Special music was planned for Easter. The Fifth Sunday Singspiration will be hosted by Mount Zion Baptist Church at the Hartselle Tabernacle at 6 p.m. on April 29. Ten area churches present music of different types. Refreshments will be served in the Tabernacle dining hall.

At 5:30 on Wed., March 22, McKendree United Methodist Church group met to discuss “the twelve steps for Recovery “ together. Then the men met for Bible study of Genesis and the women studied the Book of Mark. This part is led by Brother Mike and Tammy Vest. Teri Sanford and the children do various Bible stories. Afterward, those attending enjoyed pot luck supper. Group sessions were directed by Brother Mike Vest and Tammy Vest. Teri Sanford worked with the youth and the children.

Christian love and heartfelt sympathy goes out this week for the family of Lynda Cunningham and also for the family of Craig Hughes. Special get well soon wishes go out this week for Sandra Morgan, Belinda Ricks, Paulette Wilhite and Tammy Hendrix.

Our thoughts and prayers go out this week for Mary Turney and Ace Perkins. Christian love and heartelt sympathy goes out this week for the family of Sharon Riggs and also for the family of Jane Blevins Daniels.
