The Danville Lady Hawks topped the East Lawrence Lady Eagles last week in a tight game.

Danville loaded the bases in the first inning with just one out thanks to singles from Callie Ryan, Grace Cobb and Emma Broadfoot. However, a wild play from centerfield to third base ended the scoring threat. Danville put two more runners on after two singles in the second, but again couldn’t get any runs across.

The Hawks finally got on the board in the third when Savanah Pelfery grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Broadfoot. Another fielder’s choice pushed the Hawk’s lead to 2-0.

Danville got their last run when Callie Ryan laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Morgan Weatherwax. East Lawrence managed to get on the board in the sixth, but the Eagles couldn’t comeback as the Hawks held on to win 3-1. Emma Broadfoot led the Hawks in hits with three. Laney Coker got the win on the mound. Coker surrendered seven hits but only one run in seven innings pitched.

Danville 4, Decatur Heritage 2:

The Lady Hawks topped Decatur Heritage by outhitting the Eagles 10-5 in this game. Back-to-back doubles from Savanah Free and Laney Coker helped the Hawks take a 2-1 lead in the third. Danville later pushed their lead to 3-1 after an RBI single from Morgan Weatherwax. Danville went on to win the game 4-2. Grace Cobb led the Hawks with three hits. Josey Meherg picked up the pitching win.

Danville 13, Addison 0:

Danville pummeled the Bulldogs 13-0 by outhitting them 12-1. A five run second inning and a six run fifth innings helped the Hawks take the lead. Grace Cobb had three hits on the day while Emma Broadfoot finished with four RBIs.
