Barkley Bridge Elementary hosted their Winter Fest event on Sat., Feb. 4, where they incorporated Arts into their STEM program making it STEAM.

Adding the A(ARTS) into their established STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) is a current goal being achieved.

This PTO planned event brings in families for an afternoon of fun through traditional carnival type games such as Ring-a-Coke-Toss, Gone Fishin’, Bowling, Life Size Connect Four, Book & Cupcake Walks, Face Painting by “Wishes” with Joecelyn Scott, along with an amazing Prize Store.

The Silent Auction in the library is always a huge hit; Bidders scoped out over 20 baskets. These included Chocolate Lovers, AL/AU, Outdoor Adventure, a Luke Bryan autographed guitar was even in the mix.

The STEAM area included a Destruction Zone, which allowed students to dissect various technology devices, put them back together or even create something new.  Giant coloring pages, plastic cup challenge, top challenge and several other STEAM activities were made available to give families the opportunities to play with a purpose.

Barkley Bridge PTO, Interim Principal Tina Towers and all staff members appreciate the HHS and HIS Student Volunteers, and families that worked stations allowing the BBES family to appreciate time spent together.
