James Fred Lindley

Funeral for James Fred Lindley, 88, of Hartselle was Wed. Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. at West Hartselle Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Redfearn officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Lindley died Feb. 12, 2017 at Floyd E. “Tut” Fann State Veterans Home. He was born Oct. 30, 1928 in Winston County to Joseph Franklin Lindley and Lessie Ward Lindley. Mr. Lindley retired from Redstone Arsenal after 30 years of service where he was employed by the Department of Defense. He served as a Technical Publications Editor for the LANCE Missile Project. Mr. Lindley also retired as a Chief Warrant Officer IV with the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of West Hartselle Baptist Church since 1958 where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and had many other
leadership roles.

Mr. Lindley was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Katrina Lindley and a brother, Edward Franklin Lindley.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Cole Lindley; two daughters, Marne Greer (Larry) and Sonya Ward (John) and four grandchildren, Nicole Cribbs, Justin Cribbs, Rebecca Greer and Joey Ward.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the West Hartselle Baptist Church building fund.
