Since winning their third straight county championship, it hasn’t exactly been the easiest road for the Hartselle Lady Tigers. The Tigers have dropped three of their last five games and had only one more regular season game before area tournament. Their game against the Florence Falcons would serve as a last chance to set things right before area.

The two teams opened up with plenty of back and forth action. Maggie Anderson and Moriah Taylor both dropped three point buckets to tie the game at 15-15 at the end of the first.

Allie Mayfield opened the second quarter with a three pointer to make the game 18-15, and the Tigers never gave up the lead from there. Hartselle led 29-27 at halftime and 41-37 at the end of the third. However, it was in the fourth quarter when the Tigers pulled away. Moriah Taylor opened the quarter with a three point shot and the Tigers exploded into a 22-0 run from there. Hartselle went on to win the game 65-44. Lindsay Berry led the Tigers in scoring with 16 while Moriah Taylor was second with 11.

The Hartselle Lady Tigers will host their area tournament and will play Columbia in the first round on Wednesday February 8. If they win, they will play the winner of Decatur/Austin on Friday.
