The hangover the Brewer Lady Patriots were feeling after clinching home court advantage in the tournament was clear when they took on the Boaz Lady Pirates. One night removed from achieving a perfect 6-0-area record, the Lady Patriots did not look themselves, and Boaz took full advantage.

The first quarter featured quite a bit of defense as Boaz held just a 2-0 lead at the end of the quarter.

In the second quarter, the Pirates extended their lead even more. Kaitlyn Gillilan poured in eight points, including a buzzer beating three pointer, to help Boaz take a 16-5 lead at halftime. McCarley Northway accounted for all five of the Patriot’s points in the half.

In the second half Brewer finally woke up. Northway, along with Henslee Brindley and Katelyn Childs, knocked in baskets to cut the lead to 19-13. Northway went on to account for 10 points in the quarter as Brewer took the lead 23-22 at the end of the third quarter.

The final quarter had a lot of back and forth action but Boaz took the lead for good on a three-point play from Baylee Alldredge. Leisha Steger gave Brewer hope by sinking a three point shot to cut the lead to 32-30 with nine seconds. However, Boaz sinked their two free throw shots and went on to win 34-31.

McCarley Northway finished the game as Brewer’s leading scorer with 15 points. Eviah Burrows and Katelyn Childs had five and four respectively. Kaitlyn Gillian led Boaz with 19 points.
