A celebration of life service for Martha Rogers Burks, 90 of Hartselle was Tues., Jan. 24, at 1 p.m. at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Jackson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Burks died Sun., Jan. 22, 2017, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Louisiana to Walter Odell Rogers and Lula Witt Rogers. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Haden I Burks. She graduated from Decatur High School and attended Bob Jones University. She began her banking career at Morgan County Bank as a teller and retired from its successor, AmSouth Bank, as assistant vice president and head
teller. She was an active, lifelong member of Central Baptist Church and enjoyed working in the library every Wednesday. She was a member of the ukulele band an enjoyed the trips and camaraderie of the group. As all of her friends and family can attest, she was a huge fan of all University of Alabama sports. She kept up with all of the university news by reading “Tider Insider” and any other publication regarding the teams or listening to any television or radio program that might mention the school. As she would say “Roll Tide”.
She is loved and survived by Frank and Bonnie Burks, Marvin and Mavis Hale; several nieces and nephews, Carolyn Robertson, David and Patricia Robertson; a special friend and caregiver, Tammy Hughes; and her special neighbors, Carol and Larry Smith. She had many other friends, cousins and neighbors that will miss her smiling face.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Central Baptist Library Fund or to your favorite charity.
