Principal Mary Speegle received a check for $9,917 to use for Chromebooks for Priceville Jr. High at the council meeting on Monday night.
The Priceville Town Council adopted a resolution to approve the purchase for the Chromebooks from the FY2017 appropriations. The councilmen voted unanimously in their meeting on Dec. 27, 2016.
Speegle was present at the meeting on Jan. 9 and excited to see the funds go to use in the classrooms of 5th grade Priceville students.
Another requested part of business was by patrolman Jason Wilbanks with the Priceville Police Department to attend a Phase Three Hostage Negotiations and Crisis Intervention Training certification course in Birmingham.
Wilbanks had previously completed the first two phases of the certification in Missouri last year. He told the council this particular portion requires 40 hours worth of training courses over a weeklong period and a 50-question test that has to be passed based on the three phases of training. The council granted his request and will be attending the course May 15-19 in Birmingham.
The next council meeting will be Jan. 23 at 6 p.m.
