It wasn’t pretty for the Hartselle Lady Tigers, but they got the job done nevertheless. The injury bug that has hit the Tigers has been nothing short of crazy. The Tigers have suffered ankle or knee injuries to four different players leaving them with just six healthy players. One of those players is out for the season and there is no timetable set for the return of the other three, if they return at all. However, the Morgan County tournament didn’t stop and the Tigers still had to trudge on against the Falkville Lady Blue Devils.

Kalli Cartee opened the game for the Tigers with a basket and then Falkville’s Ravyn Gilstrap tied the game at 2-2. Anna Mathis then gave the Tigers five points to give them a 7-2 lead. Madison Lawler added a basket as Hartselle led 9-3 at the end of the first.

Mathis started the second quarter much like the first as notched four points for the tigers to help them take a 13-3 lead. Rachel Wilson and Sydnee Fitzgerald helped chip in baskets but the Tigers still led 24-9 at halftime. Hartselle kept their lead 36-19 at the end of the third and won the game 55-23. Anan Mathis led the Tigers with 25 points. Madison Lawler was second with 10 points. Ravyn Gilstrap led Falkville with 8 points.

Hartselle advances to play Danville in the Morgan County tournament semi-finals on Friday January 20th.
