The opening game of the 2017 Morgan County basketball tournament featured some familiar foes in an unfamiliar time setting. The Priceville Lady Bulldogs took on the West Morgan Lady Rebels in the opening game at 1:30 instead of the usual 6 p.m.

Priceville took control of the game early. Abby Hensley, Kathleen Wheeler and Kele Nelson all knocked in baskets to give the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead. Brie Evans put the Rebels on the board, but Wheeler and Jenna Walker gave the Bulldogs an even bigger lead. Priceville held a 15-8 after the end of the first quarter. The Lady Bulldogs dominated the Rebels inside for much of the first quarter and it would continue into the rest of the game.

Walker and Skyler Benson helped give Priceville a 21-8 lead. West Morgan managed to trim the lead thanks to baskets from Lindsey Amos and Bailey Parrish but Priceville still led the Rebels 27-17 at halftime.

The closest the Rebels came the rest of the game was 27-21 at the end of the first half. Priceville held the lead 44-32 at the end of the third quarter and went on to win the game 58-39. Kathleen Wheeler led the Bulldogs with 19 points while Jenna Walker was second with 15 points. Kele Nelson and Abby Hensley both finished with 10 points. Bailey Parrish led the Rebels with 11 and 9 points respectively.
