A memorial service for Linda Martin Sims, 78, of Decatur was Sun., Jan. 8, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Fred Grissom officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Miss Sims died Sat., Dec. 31, 2016, at The Terrace at Priceville.
She was born Jan. 26, 1938, in Cullman County to John Lewis Sims, Sr. and Lillian Inez Martin Sims. Miss Sims graduated from Danville High School, earned a B.S. Degree from Florence State College and an M.A. from The University of Alabama. She took additional courses at Appalachian State University and the University of Georgia. She spent her career as a teacher at Fairview and West Morgan High Schools; Patrick Henry State Junior College, Monroeville; and the University of North Alabama, from which she retired. Her many interests included traveling with friends, needlework and sewing, gardening, collecting and her family, especially her nieces and nephew and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The family is grateful for the care Miss Sims received at The
Terrace at Priceville over the past two years.
She is survived by a brother, John L. Sims, Jr. (Jeannine) of Danville; a sister, Margaret Grissom (Fred), of Decatur; and a host of nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
