The Brewer Patriots came out on the winning side of postseason basketball as they walked out champions of the 2016 West Point Christmas tournament.
The Patriots defeated Curry in the first game. In what was a close game in the first half, Brewer led 9-8 at the end of one and 20-18 at the end of two, turned into a runaway in the second. Dakota Bennett led a run at the beginning of the third that ended with the Patriots leading 45-33 at the end of three. Brewer went on to win 69-49 and defeated Priceville in the second round to set up a championship match with Corner.
The two teams were notched at 21 at halftime and 43 at the end of regulation as the game went into overtime. John Jay Graves became the hero as he launched an improbable half-court shot at the buzzer, which went in, giving the Patriots the win 54-51.
