Morgan County Board of Education personnel change

Morgan County Board of Education retirements, reassignments, hires and other moves within school system

Superintendent Bill Hopkins, Jr., made the following recommendations at the Morgan County Board of Education meeting July 14. The Board approved all of these items for the 2016-2017 school year.

  1. The following employee supplemental contracts: Edward L. Willis to serve as deputy superintendent for contract year 2016-2017; Jacob Wray as the assistant baseball coach at Priceville High School effective for contact year 2015-2016.
  2. The Board approved the following for contract services: Megan Aldridge for SLP instruction for ESY2016 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 14-16, June 21-23, July 12-14; July 19-21; Chris Odom as summer school facilitator at Priceville High School June 1, 2016 to July 21, 2016; Dawn Nesmith for credit recovery for two SPE students no more than eight hours a week per week for five weeks June 15, 2016 to Aug. 7, 2016; Kim King as summer school teacher at Priceville Junior High School June 13, 2016 to July 8, 2016; Kenneth Thomas as head custodian at Priceville High School; Linda Mitchell as head custodian at Priceville Elementary School effect 2016-2017.
  3. The following employees at Brewer High School received approval for Career and Technical Education Performance Based Supplement for the school’s Career Tech Center: Glen Winton, Ashley Black and Brandon Jarrett.
  4. Kevin Sanders with West Morgan High School, Ethan Lake with Danville High School were approved for Technical Education Performance Based Supplement.
  5. The Board approved the following resignations: Tony Drinkard as Brewer High School’s head baseball coach; Andrew Brock as the agriscience teacher at Brewer High School; Jace Wilemon’s as Falkville High School’s JV basketball coach; George Hearring as Morgan County’s part-time SPE aide; Tara Helms as Morgan County’s ESL teacher; Nicholas Riley as Danville High School’s physical science teacher; James Burton as a Priceville Elementary School bus driver; Jeff Blair for Morgan County Schools as bus driver trainer; Alicia Bowman as Morgan County’s SPE teacher; Jonathan Gibson as Morgan County Schools bus driver trainer; Betty Mahan as Lacey’s Spring School CNP worker; Angela Smith Clark as Brewer High School science teacher; Carolyn Parker as Danville Middle School’s lead driver.
  6. The Board approved the following reassignments within the school system: Eva School’s Brett Mooneyham from kindergarten to 6th grade; Danville Middle School’s Shannon Anderson from title resource and 7th grade reading to three periods title resource and three periods 5th grade math; Danville Middle School’s Judy Welborn from 6th grade science and history to five periods of 5th grade history and one period of 6th grade history; Danville Middle School’s Cynthia Wiley from 5th grade math and history to three periods of 6th grade language arts, one period 6th grade of history, and two periods of 7th grade reading; Falkville High School’s Jace Wilemon from 6th grade and 7th grade math to 8th and 9th grade math (replacing Mallory Alberti who transferred); Falkville Elementary School’s elementary library media specialist to Eva School’s library media specialist; Diana White as Morgan County School bus driver to Morgan County Schools bus aide; Karol Legg from bus driver for Brewer High School to bus driver for Sparkman School (replacing Sherry Scott who resigned); Perry Holmes from Union Hill and Eva School agri-science teacher to career tech teacher at Brewer High School (replacing Andrew Brock who resigned); Terri Minshall as bus driver at West Morgan to bus driver for Danville (replacing Johnny Perkins who resigned); Renee Hardin from bus driver at Priceville to bus driver at Falkville (replacing Gloria Doss who retired); Danville High School’s Jamison Hill from 9th grade biology to 10th grade physical science.
  7. The Board approved the following employments: Shannon McGregory as a social studies teacher at Danville High school; Timothy Hodson as ELA teacher at Brewer High School; Ezekial Walters as physical education teacher at Brewer High School; Teresa Garner as Morgan County special education teacher (replacing Maegan Johnson who was non-renewed); Sonja Lynne Lindsay as Morgan County ESL teacher; Charles Kirksey Longshore as social studies teacher at Brewer High School (replacing Jeff Self who retired); Cindi Gass as custodian at Priceville High School (replacing Don Harper who was non-renewed); Cambia Bailey as Morgan County Schools occupational therapist (replacing Denise Rose who resigned); Billy Haggermaker as Morgan County Schools bus driver (replacing Bruce Wheeler who resigned); Karen Greenwall as 6th grade teacher at West Morgan Middle School (replacing Brett Mooneyham who transferred); Kathy Hickman as 1st grade teacher at Cotaco School (replacing Patsy Bryan who retired); Tanya Smith  as Morgan County Schools psychometrist; Ashley Camp as Morgan County Schools preschool teacher (replacing Felicia Wilson who transferred); Samantha Riddle as 6th grade teacher at Falkville High School (replacing Jace Wilemon who will transfer).
  8. Other items approved by the Board: Falkville Elementary School’s Leslie Karen Martin for family medical leave of absense (maternity leave) from Sept. 21, 2016 to Nov. 1, 2016; Revision of Eva School teacher Janet Benefield’s resignation to May 27, 2016; Julie Mooney as Morgan County Schools bus aide to Morgan County Schools bus driver (replacing Regina Mooney who retired).

The Morgan County Board of Education also thanked Ms. Cara Standridge for her work in the school systems business/finance department. Ms. Standridge has been promoted as the general ledger accountant for Morgan County Schools (replacing Gail Blevins who retired).
