Earl P. Montgomery

Funeral for Earl P. Montgomery, 81, of Middleburg, Fla. will be Sat., June 18, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery, Orange Park, Fla.

Mr. Montgomery died Tues., June 14, 2016, at The Morris Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Fla.

Mr. Montgomery was born on Aug. 24, 1934, in Decatur to John David Homer Montgomery and Annie Viola Prater Montgomery. He was a hard worker and a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy having retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 26 years, 2 months, and 12 days of honorable and dedicated service. He was also a founding member of Madeira Baptist Church in Orange Park and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Howard R. Montgomery.

He is survived by five children, Shelia R. Martin (Henry), Scarlet A. Mikell, Timothy E. Montgomery, David D. Montgomery (Alyce), and Sandra D. McMichael; three siblings, Jack C. Montgomery (Jennie), Patty J. Atherton (Jim), and Paul D. Montgomery (Charlcie); a sister-in-law, Barbara W. Montgomery; four grandchildren, Michael C. Rideout, Dawn M. Mikell, Crystal A. Mikell Lee (Cameron) and Pamela A. Montgomery; and three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Madison, and Chase Lee; and his former wife, Shirley F. Montgomery.
