Fifth Sunday singing held at Mt. Zion Baptist
Janie Holmes was honored with a celebration Jan. 25 on her 95th birthday.
Guests were Allen and Jan Holmes, Kelli Holmes, Gerry and Linda Holmes, Debbie Cumming, Dwight and Linda Allredge, Greg and Pam Holmes, Mike and Stephanie Holmes, Alex Holmes, Jake Brown, Rodney Holmes, Misty Irwin, Kerie and Jeremy Waters and Audrey, April, Alexis and Ainsei Aycock. Other guests were Cindi Haynes, Sylvia Mote, Hoyt Johnson, Valerie Williams, James Otto Henderson, Casey Henderson, Brother Phillip and Ann Gilbret, Bracy Cummings, Lasanna Holmes, Thomas, Britney, Bryan and Mason Alexander.
Looking back into time at prices you would find in a grocery store: Grade A eggs for 29 cents a dozen, bananas 10 cents a pound, sugar-cured center cut ham 69 cents a pound, dog food 5 cents for 15-ounce can and red potatoes 19 cents for a 10 pound bag.
You know you are in a small town whenever you drive into a ditch five miles from home and the word gets out before you get home.
Cooking tip: If a recipe calls for one fourth of cup of lemon juice, you should use one lemon.
Libby’s Restaurant at Priceville was the place for the lunch group. Sharing the good food and fellowship were Kim Gibson, Betty Wright, Eva Stinson, Kathy Gray, Wilma Depreast, J.L. and Ann Sanders, Howard and Helen Gibson and Ray and Betty Sanders.
The Fifth Sunday community singing was held Jan. 31 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the following churches participating: Mt. Zion, First Faith, First Baptist Falkville, Victory Fellowship, New Life, The Nursing Home Group, Pine Street Baptist and Round Top.
Mrs. Vivian Summerford sang and was given a standing ovation. Bro. Wayne Penn gave an inspirational closing to the service. Refreshments were served by Mt. Zion Church.
