Donald D. “Buck” Turney

Funeral for Donald D. “Buck” Turney, 85, of Falkville will be Fri., Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. Joe Holmes and Jessie Estes officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Cook Cemetery. Visitation will be Thur., Oct. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Turney died on Tues., Oct. 27, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Morgan County to Guy Walker Turney and Florence Savannah Baker Turney. He was a maintenance worker for the Parks and Recreation Department in the City of Hartselle prior to his retirement.

Mr. Turney was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Findley Turney; his parents; and three brothers, James, Thurman and Wilks Turney.

He is survived by a son, Steve Turney (Ethel); a daughter, Debbie Blevins (Johnny); two sisters, Marie Hammon and Norma Jean Long; five grandchildren, Pam Cherry (Greg); Sandra Howlett (Kevin), Jason Blevins (Merranda), Justin Turney (Holly) and David Blevins (Jessica); and six great-grandchildren, Brayden Freeman, Lukas Howlett, Anna Grace Turney, Josie Blevins and Blake Cherry and Lauren Cherry.

Pallbearers will be Jason Blevins, Justin Turney, David Blevins, Greg Cherry, Kevin Howlett and Wilks Turney, Jr.

The family would like to acknowledge long time family friend and neighbor, Seeyilla Chatham for all of her assistance.
