Falkville remains perfect on season
After battling back and forth for four quarters, Falkville defeated Sumiton Christian 35-27 on the road Friday night.
Falkville Head Coach Joel Schrenk said their first distinctive lead didn’t come until late in the fourth quarter with under five minutes to play.
“They scored first early on and we scored after that but missed the extra point so they led 7-6 after the first quarter,” Schrenk said. “They scored again and then we replied and went for two and were successful so it was tied at 14 before the half.”
Schrenk said quarterback Ryan Sullivan was able to connect to Andy Dove for a huge gain, but he was tackled on the one-yard line just before halftime. The Eagles and Blue Devils went into intermission 14-14.
FHS got on the scoreboard first in the third quarter, sending the score to 21-14. A short time later, the Eagles followed with a touchdown of their own.
The fourth quarter enabled two back-to-back scores by the Blue Devils, allowing Falkville to take control of the ball game for the first time.
