Edward “Ed” Prater

Funeral for Edward “Ed” Prater, 86, of Danville will be Sat., Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Carl Sanford and Billy Jackson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Lawrence Co.

Mr. Prater died Wed., Sept. 30, 2015, at his residence. He was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Lawrence County to James Kelso Prater and Gertrude Anna Eddy Prater. He was employed at Fruehauf prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Prater of Danville; a son, Keith Prater of Danville; two daughters, Susan Prater Patterson of Somerville and Sherry Prater Smith (Mike) of Danville; two brothers, Howell Prater of Falkville and Danny Prater (Kathy) of Danville; a sister, Evelyn Steele of Danville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Colton Prater, Chris Smith, Brandon Keenum, Hunter Prater, Ricky Steele, Phillip Steele and Ryan Prater.
