Joyce Landers Helphand

A graveside service for Joyce Landers Helphand, 77, of Decatur was Thur., Aug. 6, at 2 p.m. at New Friendship Cemetery with Bro. Ron Manley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Ms. Helphand died Tues., Aug. 4, 2015, at Decatur Health & Rehab Center. She was born Aug. 26, 1937, in Limestone County to Ervin Hagood and Mildred Drake Hagood. She was retired from General Motors/Delphi Automotive Plant as a production operator until her retirement. She was the owner/operator of Hickory Hill Bed and Breakfast. She was also a member of Austinville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family sends a special thanks to the staff of Decatur Health and Rehab Center and to Comfort Care Hospice.

She is survived by a son, Orvil Landers (Renee) of Decatur; a daughter, Lori Putman (Dennis) of Mills River, N.C.; two brothers, Billy Hagood of Birmingham and Butch Hagood of Cullman; a sister, Sharon White of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Big Oak Ranch or to any of the Dementia or Alzheimer’s organizations of your choice.
