Garland “George” Cowart

Funeral for Garland “George” Cowart, 60, of Hartselle will be Mon., June 22, at 7 p.m. at Johnson Chapel UMC with Bro. Benny Sivley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Mon., June 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Cowart died Wed., June 17, 2015, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born July 4, 1954, in Morgan County to Paul Monroe Cowart and Annie Lou Kirby Cowart. Mr. Cowart was a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darin Oneal Cowart; two sisters, Patricia Grissom and Loretta Cowart; a brother, Paul Cowart, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Free Cowart of Hartselle; two sons, Bo Cowart (Emily) of Hartselle and Doug “Bebo” Cowart (fiance’, Amanda Goodwin Hall) of Hartselle; a daughter, Christy Cowart Hogan (Brad) of Danville; two brothers, Danny Cowart (Carolyn) of Decatur and James “Snook” Cowart of Decatur; four sisters, Diana Lindley of Decatur, Brenda Gay (Bill) of Decatur, Margret Cagle (Billy) of Hartselle and Donna Smith (Roger) of Hartselle; and seven grandchildren, Austin Hogan (Savanah), Hunter Hogan (fiance’, Mel Yoder), Nathan Cowart, Colton Cowart, Reece Cowart, Lyla Cowart and Ava Cowart.

In lieu of flowers: Family requests that memorial donations be made to the Danville Youth Football League.
